I would put it in my top 10 records of all time. I love the first lines of Astral Weeks: "If I ventured in the slipstream, between the viaducts of your dream, where immobile steel rims crack, and the ditch in the back roads stop. Could you find me? Would you kiss my eyes? To lay me down in silence, easy. To be born again." Pure poetry.

Astral Weeks is what turned me into a proselytizer not just a fan. I'd heard the Moondance album plenty of time and songs like Into the Mystic and And It Stoned Me had definitely left an impression. But when I hear that first line in Astral Weeks I was hooked. Hearing the remainder of the album and the power yet free form poetry of songs like Cypress Avenue and Madame George just sent me into another level of awe.

There are some killer live performances in YouTube, FYI.

I love "Someone Like You." I know there are many others that are musically and compositional better, but I can't help it. I turned it into mine and DS special "dancing song" when he was an infant.

I have huge regrets for not seeing him do Astral Weeks live when he toured a few years ago!

Brown Eyed Girl - I think this is his best known and most treasured. One can argue that the other songs listed are better music and maybe they are. But Brown Eyed Girl is the classic hit that is played at every wedding, every reunion, often in movies....that song is a true treasure.

I've always loved Into the Mystic but Crazy Love is probably my favorite song.

I'm probably the only person who thinks this, but I love "Cleaning Windows". It really spoke to me back in my twenties and overwhelmed by school and just really wanted to quit and become a mailman

Me too! This is the first one that came to mind. For reasons very similar to yours.

I'm not quite as big an afficionado as most here, but this is my favorite. Although I love the original, I especially like the Michael Buble, big band sounding version.
