Well, I would be terrified if my kid saw rx and designer drugs being sold in school. The thought of my kids being exposed to these drugs is more terrifying than the thought of them witnessing a few fights.

I went to a suburban middle school in another state, probably 85% white and I never once witnessed a fight in school. TPMS is trash.

Yes, but rich kids have more access to drugs, and more money to spend on them. And tpms is not infested with gangs. Plus, those rich schools have other issues, too, that I don't want my kids to be around.

BTW, I went to a MS and HS where there were fights, and the only drug I saw was pot, once. The schools were middle/low income, and most of the kids didn't have the money to buy the more expensive drugs. So yea, I'd rather my kids go to a school where there may be a fight or two, but not where there is such easy access to drugs.

DH and I talked tonight about transferring out of TP if this continues. We aren't sending our kid to school in what sounds like Mosul.

I can't believe the parents who are pooh-poohing this. The girl's reaction is NORMAL and HEALTHY. We don't want our kids to be desensitized to violence. Of course it was upsetting, and even more upsettin if the admin did nothing.

I was in a few fights in middle school in silver spring - over 20 years ago. do I think it was a trashy school? yes. it was awful (wasn't TP).

So my parents threw me in private. Saw 1 girl fight in 4 years of private HS. that's it. just 1.

You won't find fights in private high school. That's not the private school MO. Some private school kids are subversive in their methods, and when they're caught, Daddy and Mommy always come to the rescue.
