+1

Not sure what your point is. I never saw any of these in private, nor have my kids.

My DD's private doesn't have drugs, but my private in the '80s had pot, cocaine, and booze. It wasn't a lot of the students, but there was a well-known group whose parents were absentee and let them have parties after school every day. So these girls (it was an all girls' school) would bring their party favors to school with them.

A friend teaches at a tony Midwestern private. A couple years ago, there was a "Skittles party" on campus during Spirit Week. Parents had to be called to pick up their high kids. One mom showed up basically drunk to pick up her twins. EMS had to be called for all three of them. The husband/father gave a sizeable donation to the annual fund to hush things up.

? I'm sure your DD's private has drugs. It's just the kids there don't go around telling their parents about the drugs. Please don't stick your head in the sand about it.

Do you have kids at private?

Anonymous wrote:Did anyone hear about this? My DD is scared to go to school anymore after seeing this.
As far as I understand, it was a bunch of girls tearing each others hair out with some boys
also involved. Didn't hear anything from the school. Can someone enlighten me.
BTW this is a one off incident and a very very rare occurrence.

This is the most disturbing part of the post. Really? Your middle school aged child is afraid to go to school because other kids got into a fight?

Yes She is 11. Everybody is different. Some people read any post and try to be constructive while some others try to be jerks. And there are people
like you!

Get her out of that hell hole. Move to a better cluster-the Hippies make TPMS sound like heaven, when it is pretty much an ICE detention center.

Do your kids actually go to Hoover? My kids went there recently and neither one was ever bullied and they weren't super popular kids. If your child goes there and is being bullied you ought to let their counselor/administrator know immediately because bullying should not be tolerated at all. Unfortunately, bullying takes place in schools all over the county. I had a friend whose child was at Julius West and was bullied repeatedly by multiple kids over his three years there.

9:04, not the PP, but if you just joined this thread to bash JW, just stop. We're tired of you, and your fellow Hoover people, relentlessly trashing JW. I know for a fact there is severe bullying at Hoover. Glad your kids were not victims. Let's end the bullying instead of blaming JW.

I've never mentioned Julius West on this board before, but I happen to have a friend whose child was seriously bullied over his three years at the school. Bullying should not be tolerated at any school, but it does unfortunately happen at all schools. Of course we need to end the bullying, but trying to say it's worse at one school than another is not helpful at all.

Does it matter? Each grade gets lunch at the same time.

I asked my 8th grader about it. She heard nothing. She said that probably was during time that she worked in the library.
I suspect that it was something minor. Last fight couple months ago we got automatic call from principal, nothing this time...
