Mine is 0.5; most in my circle are larger. I got married early and DH paid for it all himself.
My BFF has a HUGE ring. That her DH put on their joint credit card and took forever to pay off. |

.75 - 3.0
I think average is over 1 carat, but not 2. |
|
I would say in my circle of materialistic, superficial friends our rings range from .5 carats to 2ish carats, all shapes, styles, metals, and stones depending on the era of engagement and various other factors.
Many women don't care about engagement rings. That's great! Fight the patriarchy and DeBeers and the wedding industrial complex and...ohhhh sorry, distracted by my sparkly finger. I'm such an airhead. |
| I wouldn't know. |
|
2-3 carats
Late 30s |
| Where do you all live that you get married so early? 10 year anniversary range for mid-late 30s and 28 being late for another circle? This doesn't sound like DC at all. |
| Whoa! I don't look at other people's rings. I don't get why you'd care. |
Probably the South or Midwest. And "LOL" @ the person in their late 20s and the average size is 1.5 carats. That's such an age where each girl is competition to be the "Best Pintrest Bride," have 14 bridemaids/sorority sistrs, and they are all competing over ring sizes. |
| I don't pay much attention, but a majority don't even wear rings. What's the point of the question? Seems incredibly pointless. Why am I answering? I like shiny things, that's why. I don't wear rings either, but I have a .75 solitaire of extremely high quality. It looks right to me. Too bad it's from my ex, so I can't wear it. My current never gave me one, and that's fine. |
| Sorry but I do NOT think most women have a 1.5 carat ring. Maybe in rich affluent social circles but that is not reflective of the majority of the population. The nationwide average is MUCH smaller. |
| DCUM women distilled to their essence: forget about the size of the c%*k, it's all about the size of the rock. |
|
There's a range from no ring to big, honkin', nearly vulgar, "holy shit how much did that thing cost?"
Most of my close friends are in the no ring, heirloom ring, or small birthstone ring category. (For demographic reference: Overly-educated liberal academics and non-profit warriors with a smattering of Europeans and artists in the mix.) |
What does that even mean? |
Better than being saddled with a tiny ring. I want a rock and if I had to pay for it, no problem. |
| Executive circles, Executive rings. Of course. |
