does your husband initiate or plan "date nights"?

Hahaha +1! We have "dates" all the time!

No, and I wish he would. I had no idea this was so common.

DH can't plan himself out of a paper bag.

My DH planned a weekend getaway for next month. I don't know where we're going.

No, he doesn't. He used to complain about what I did plan, so I said - okay, you plan the next one. We didn't have a date for another six months and it would have been even longer except it was his birthday.

He's from India and never saw his parents go out on "dates" just the two of them - not sure that's really an excuse, but it's clear from his behavior that the idea of us going out as a married couple is kind of foreign to him.

No. Never. He can't even order the Chinese.

He would not even make the time or be willing to "pay" a babysitter. (I make more than him ... which is why "pay" is in quotes.)

In marriage counseling we agreed we would take 1 day off a month and we do a whole day date. It usually works out to about 8 times a year. Best advise I ever got from MC.

Nope. If it wasn't for me, we'd never have date nights, nor would we ever go on vacation, or have people over. Not that he doesn't enjoy them, it just never occurs to him that such things require some advance planning and organization.

Nope. He doesn't plan anything. He might ask me at 3pm on a Saturday- "hey, do you want to go somewhere?" *facepalm*

lol yes, it is very common. If your husband every DOES plan a veritable date night for you, you should reinforce the hell out of it and pretty much kiss his ass to eternity. Men by and large do not do this. It is a fantasy, sadly.

Husband here. Yup. I used to plan date nights and arrange birthday parties for her but I always did it "wrong" and was soundly criticized. Lesson learned, don't bother.

Yes. I think he likes planning trips more than dates, but if he comes across something fun for a date he'll plan that too.

My husband used to plan long weekends. We'd leave on Thursday come home Sunday. We had a lot of fun. I don't have the energy anymore to do that so we use that money now to help the kids out with stuff they may need. Kids are grown with their own kids and contrary to others on this forum, not every married couple makes 6 figure incomes. Grandkids always need things.

Instead of date nights my husband stops by the store on Fridays, picks up stuff to cook on the weekends then we go walk in the mall or do our weekly shopping every weekend.

He'll be home for a month and a half over the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays and we're going to do some house projects. I like that more than going out.
We work well together.
