Should appliances match?

I'm the PP with the white dishwasher. Yes, love induction. We had put in induction a few years ago when we lived out of state in a gas-less house, and loved it. Really love it now, esp that the prices have come way down. It's just so ridiculously easy, quick and consistent.

On the dishwasher, we didn't do a panel because that looks a little, well, over matched to our liking. And lots of people complaining panels look too 80s. We live in the city and i think people respond to a bit more of a modern styling, rather than the big, over designed sububan kitchen look than many people on here channel. We did ikea white gloss cabinets and this Bosch dishwasher:

I couldn't find a store that stocked any bosch white dishwashers in person for us to go see, so i actually called bosch and some stores to just get an idea of what it looked like. They all confirmed it was not 80s mottled style, but couldn't confirm much beyond that. It is a sleek front, but not quite as glossy as gloss cabinets. It looks really good.

We did stainless built in oven, black glass induction stovetop with stainless trim (no gas) and white dishwasher -- all three of those in Bosch. Sink is stainless. Fridge stainless. Hidden microwave in cabinet. We opted for the white dishwasher because stainless dishwashers chop up the flow of kitchens. It was a $700 gamble, but we are so glad we did. It looks really sleek and new in our white kitchen. Were just at friends who also did an all-white kitchen last year in a $1m townhouse, and they had done the same thing. Note that the white finish is a modern gloss finish and not the old mottled finish of the 80s.

Sorry, this sounds like it doesn't go together at all to me, no idea why you didn't just panel the dishwasher to match the cabinets. Great if you like it, but it would bug me a lot in a house I was looking to purchase. You could have also paneled the fridge. We paneled the fridge and dishwasher for our kitchen remodel with a stainless stove and hood (same company so the finish/undertones match).

Ugh, I hate paneled appliances. Hate hate hate and there are so many in the homes we're currently touring. And matching appliances tells me your kitchen was designed by a decorator rather than a cook.

Agree with all this. Panel appliances just look "suburban mom". Or alternatively, far too modern (where you have flat panel floor to ceiling cabinets, no hardware and no visible appliances). And matching appliances to me scream that the kitchen was done on a budget, i.e. they bought the package rather than buying the best appliance in each category.

Most homes that have Wolf ranges also have a panel dishwasher. I certainly don't think that is a budget kitchen.

I didn't say panel screamed "budget". I said matching appliances scream budget. Like, the GE appliance set. Or the Whirlpool appliance set. If i saw a kitchen with all Wolf appliances (does wolf make dishwashers?) in all seriousness, i would assume a woman with new money but little experience in the kitchen who worried about what others thought about her was swayed that way by a designer. I am probably wrong, but that's just where my mind would go!

So if I chose a subzero fridge and a wolf range you would think I didn't know my way around a kitchen and was conned into buying it? Truly bizarre bought process you have.

whew, this got off track.
still trying to figure out if i can just replace my fridge and not worry about whether it matches my already mismatched dishwasher and oven. small galley kitchen where all three are on the same side, with two right next to each other. you can see at least two appliances through the door from the dining room.

would be easier not to worry about stainless steel finish and style of appliances (handles, etc) to match but i am worried that it will bother me a bit. have a GE stove and a kenmore dishwasher.

No. I would assume you either cooked, or had money and were directed to those by a decorator. But if you had a subzero fridge, wolf range, and a dishwasher, hood, microwave, and whatever other random appliance -- all made by wolf/subzero (if those exist - I don't know), I would assume you were a sucker who didn't get personally involved in the appliance decisions.

I love how this person who is so clueless is posting. I'm sure they were surprised Wolf and Subzero are made by the same company.

Just do your best to match the style and color of your other appliances. It would bother me if it was very different but it should be possible to find something in stainless that blends.

Yes, I was a little surprised. I vaguely remember learning that when I renovated my first 4 years ago -- but didn't bother to remember because they get such hideous reviews that I had zero interest. I'm a real cook, so opted to go another better direction.
