Feel so thirsty and water isn't helping... what to do?

Anonymous
OP here. I realize my post made me sound like a weirdo but I felt terrible yesterday and was feeling anxious. I was hoping someone would say "long hot showers are dehydrating"...

Not feeling well sucks but having anxiety on top of not feeling well = a shit storm

Me too with the Diet Coke while pregnant! It was my only craving, and I needed it every day. (I still feel guilty about how much I drank).

They can be if you're forcing for body to cool itself. We used to lay in a tub of 140 degree water for 10 minutes, then roll up like a burrito for 20, and come out 4 pounds lighter.

Contrary to what others have said, you should not be dehydrated after drinking 32oz of water, that is a lot of water. This tells me that something else is going on here.

1) is your urine dark or bright in color? and does it have a strong odor?

2) how old are you?

3) are you overweight?

4) are you eating fruits and vegetables daily?

Sounds like diabetes. Get a blood sugar check ASAP.

No, it isn't a lot of water. Rule of thumb is at least 8 8oz. glasses of water per day, or half an ounce to an ounce per pound of body weight. So unless OP weighs 64 lbs., she only drank about half of what she needed.

ASK YOUR DOCTOR. Why does everyone treat DCUM like a g-d medical hotline? When something is amiss, seek medical advice! Why is this such a difficult concept?!

It is faster than getting an appointment with your doctor, it is free, gives some level of moral support, and it works 7 days, 24 hours.

Try Gatorade.

Not everyone has good health insurance and a doctor you can just call and ask questions. Sometimes it can take weeks to get a medical appt.
In the meantime OP, go to target or a chain pharmacy and buy a blood glucose test kit. You can buy one for less than $25. Prick your finger with a lancet (buy them separate or buy the kit that includes them), put a drop of blood on test strip, insert it in blood sugar tester. Come back and tell us the number the monitor says. We will tell you what it means. It is a cheap, easy way to check to see if you might have diabetes.

This is probably way off base...any chance it could be due to post nasal drip?

+2 Get it checked out if your thirst continues.

+3 to checkup.
But I have to drink A LOT in hot weather. My go to is lime or lemon juice + sweetener (can be real or fake sugar) adjusted to taste.
