Does this mean MCPS is better overall than FCPS? |
| Whitman at 187, Wooton at 258, Winston Churchill at 267 bad Walter Johnson at 354 out of 500 top schools. No high school from VA in too 500 except TJ. |
|
*and, not bad
|
Yes. |
There are several VA high schools in the top 100. Just not fcps. If you go to their map of the top 100, newsweek states that there are two separate lists. This list used an "equity index" to rank the schools, adjusting for underperforming populations that met or exceeded state minimum standards. Those schools are indicated by a star. |
You forgot Poolesville at #110, and a couple of non MCPS HS, too. |
What happened to FCPS? |
| Wow! For once there should be real solidarity between all the Madison, Langley, Oakton, Mclean, Marshall, etc. boosters as they appear to be equally "bad"! Of course, they are all very good, who cares what USNWR's elementary data manipulation produces on a yearly basis. Just stop obsessing about this already! |
My mistake about Poolesville, was too busy looking at the Ws. Duh me! |
Sorry, Newsweek, not USNWR. |
This list is called the "Beating the Odds" list. |
| These MD schools are in the top 500 and they don't even include MCPS really top 100 students that are equal or better than TJ students because the school MCPS sends them to is Blair which is a large school in a low SES area. |
I am sorry I may not be searching correctly but in the other list they have a total of 2 VA high schools, TJ at 24 and Galieleo HS at 358 or something. Couldn't fine any other HS from VA. |
Want to make some edits: Poolesville HS is at #11@ Urbana High from Frederick County at #344 Walter Johnson # 395 |
| Oops Poolesville HS at # 110 |
