I eat organic the boyfriend does not

Organic chicken tastes better and different. He should be able to tell the difference. Cook 2 chickens one day. Using the same recipe for both One organic, the other not. Have him pick the most flavorful one.

Please don't break up. Get married, have kids, and entertain us on the parenting & education boards.

Communicate to each other. Find a way to compromise.

Perhaps shop and cook your meals separately at home.

And if he opens his mouth and starts bad mouthing your food while you are eating it, tell him in no uncertain terms is he to talk that way to you.

If he listens, good. Problem solved. If he doesn't, then leave. Problem solved.

Encounter some real problems. Then break up.

Break up. If you can't manage this, how will you deal with non bs?

OP, this really seems like a small issue. If isuch a petty thing is a point of contention, this relationship is doomed.

That being said, my DH would not buy organic if left to his own devices, but I do the shopping and so he eats what I buy. We pick our battles. Similarly, I choose not to comment upon the junk food wrappers I find in his car.

I try to eat organic because I want the best food possible. When we go grocery shopping he throws a fit about how he doesn't want to buy the more expensive chicken and then when I say I'll pay for it, he goes ahead and buys it and then gives me a lecture about how he cannot afford it. I'd rather be just let me buy my expensive organic chicken.

How should we deal with this?

Go local together.

Organic food is a scam. It's proven to have no health benefits over non-organic food. Sheeple.

Agree.

Eating organic or not is a trivial issue. It is not a moral issue. It is not a character issue. It is not a fault or a flaw. It is not a political or religious conflict or a disagreement on the role of family, kids and inlaws. At most, it is a preference issue, along the lines of I like the thermostat set at 76 in the summer and my husband likes it set at 79.

If you cannot manage this one or give a little (as he apparently at least trying to meet you half way) then you are in for a long struggle.

Better rip the bandaid off now vs the long painful slow death of a relationship with kids, property and more.

Completely agree.

Find a way to compromise - how about that for a suggestion? I don't know why people always suggest you dump someone at the first sign of disagreement. Its pathetic and what's more pathetic is the trail of copy cats repeating it over and over.

In our house we all eat different meals. There are 4 of us. Its fine. Everyone gets to eat according to their tastes and / or beliefs and everyone is healthy and happy. It doesn't stop us sitting together and enjoying a meal it doesn't stop us being a family either.

+1 In the meantime, shop separately, or buy your own organic food. Insist on paying yourself (in a non-combative way) rather than letting him pay.

Do either of you have controlling tendencies? Do you live together?

Industrial organic has its own problems. Go local.
