Do you detest woman of a certain age?

Anonymous
Aw sad pp.

To answer your question OP -- I hate generalizations. Just like I don't want anyone hating me because I'm over 50, I don't care what age/sex/whatever someone is as long as they are a nice person. How odd for you to care.

Anyway, we live in a misogynistic culture and women internalize this misogyny and therefore treat other women with contempt. With almost as much contempt as they treat themselves.

You're not confused, the OP is.

I hit 50 and realized I don't have enough time left to waste any of it worrying about whether other people are doing what I think they ought to. Other people (my mother excepted) tend to extend the came courtesy to me.

Yes, OP is confused. "A Woman of a Certain Age" means an "older" woman....60+.

Not at all. But, I do wish I knew then, what I know today! Then, I physically stopped traffic and men heading in cars in the opposite direction would stop cars and get out on a busy street to try to get my phone number

Okay, that's what I thought too! And I thought it was so odd that this question would be on this forum.

Me too-- I was beautiful and was only vaguely aware how fleeting beauty is. If I knew then what I know now, I would have avoided so many bad mistakes in my life. Youth is wasted on the young, they say.

Yes. This. There is no way to know it will be different when you are young. Such a shame.

Many of the young women I meet -- if that's what this question is about, and the title is very vague and confusing -- are inarticulate, passive, and seem depressed. These days, many women in their 20s seem to have to live at home or in group living situations and to work at lousy jobs. I don't really envy that, no.

OP here. Let me rephrase: Do you resent women *under* 50? Do you resent younger women even more?

Let it go, OP.

I think it is the opposite. Youth and beauty are praised and courted by men and women, in my experience.

Oh yes, OP. I wake up and go to bed seething with resentment at all 22 year old women. Doesn't every older woman?

This is ridiculous.

13 year old girls are terrifying. Always have been and always will be

Would older women actually admit it, if they did resent younger women?
Anonymous
I've had my chance to be 22. Why would I resent someone else having hers?

OP, you really need to think about why you have these sorts of thoughts. Do you want to resent 50-year-olds when you're 80?
Anonymous
So did OP mean older women? That's what "of a certain age" means. This conversation is confusing.
