Agree.

Also, Shrevewood and most of Westgate and Freedom Hill feed into Kilmer MS, which is getting overcrowded. Cooper and Longfellow MS are better options.

You need at least 1.6 million to get a decent house in Springhill vs 1 to 1.3 in Westgate or shrevewood. Cooper and langley will also get more crowded as the area expand and mclean students are moved to langley. AP is the same as IB and actually seen by universities as more of an achievement if you take the ib diploma route. All universities except ib and ap the same.

I think we have a different idea of what is a "decent" house. Other ES to consider for the OP are Churchill Road, Franklin Sherman, Chesterbrook, Kent Gardens and Haycock all are excellent commutes to Tyson's.

many people think that a decent house is a new/er build with 2 car garage and at least 3-4000SF first and second level.

The only people who'd claim you need $1.6 million to grt "decent" house in the Spring Hill district are those trying to sell people new homes for slightly over a million in the Marshall district. There are plenty of nice houses in the Spring Hill district for less than $1.6 million.

Many people consider new or newer homes after 1990 as decent, so I would agree with the case 1.6 million + is what you need in spring hill district

Shrevewood isnt doing away with the program- there is just suspicion that they will not be able to keep it as small and intimate as year's past.

I googled "middle class home" and it came up with one story ranches, smaller sized capes and the like- not 4000sqft monstrosities.

I hope they look closely at it. As the child of a Gen Ed student at Shrevewood, I found it incredibly unfair the AAP classes were so small when my child's class was quite a bit larger. My child definitely could have used some more attention, arguably more so than the AAP kids who supposedly pick it up so much more quickly and that's why they need their own class.

They got their own class due to squeaky wheels - people who fought to have the program at Shrevewood and didn't want their child mingling with the commoners.

Not to mention the kindergarteners whom their "Extra" teacher was probably allocated for.

Middle class home

Modest home

Yes and in Indianapolis that house costs $150,000...if that

DS attends Freedom Hill ES and we couldn't be happier. It's a cozy school, with very involved administration, not to mention their PTA. Teachers are good, not all of they are completely burnt out. The school population is diverse, in case that's smth you crave. While we are considered middle class, DS had a few classmates who were from low income families.

I live in Spring Hill district. There are plenty of neighborhoods (Hamlet, Hunt, etc. with homes currently for sale) at less than $1.5 and some less than $1 million. The quoted poster was looking for houses built after 1990 - which leaves out most of the current inventory.

This is bull$h~T! If that were true they would send their child to Lemon Road so that they would be in a class with more AAP Students. If you have a problem with the program then address it through the proper channels, venting and ranting on an anonymous board will get you nowhere!

OP, I have kids at Shrevewwood. It's a very nice community school. Yes, it's a bit overcrowded but what FCPS school isn't? There are great teachers and administrators. The school has a lot of family actives. A huge and always successful Halloween party, International Night, PTA sponsored Movie Night, Math Night, etc.
