| I like Capri leggings for DD because they stop her knees from getting scraped up and offer some protection from hot playground equipment. |
Wow, I was about to post these exact words. Did I?? |

| We've had good luck with Hanna Anderrson dresses with bike shorts. Also Lands End leggings. Some children's place shorts too. |
OP here, thanks to all of you! Doing some online shopping right now. Can't believe I've let her out in just underwear under her dress About to change!!!
|
| leggings and shorts. I don't want her worrying about showing her underwear when playing around, so she's always worn shorts/capris/leggings/pants under her dresses, and that's what she prefers. |
Yes! Us too! |
| My girls didn't wear dresses to play in |
I have girls that love dresses and hates jeans. All of the other pants are thin enough that they go under dresses. |
| I don't understand the big deal about underwear showing at that age... Seems young to worry about modesty. Not meaning to challenge those of you here; I'm truly just curious. (I have a son, so it is not a concern for us!) |
You didn't read the OP who said sometimes more than underwear shows. |
I've found that underwear is often a bit loose and doesn't stay in place properly when they're running and playing, and they end up flashing people. It's not a big deal, they're kids, but I'd rather it not be something she or anyone else has to worry about. She's very comfortable in shorts/leggings/pants under her dresses. When we're going to formal events, I tell her she doesn't have to wear anything but underwear under her dress, and she still prefers to have something else. |
| Factory J.Crew also sells "cartwheel" shorts for little girls. |
Not modesty here but comfort. She is three and adores dresses. Sitting on a hot swing or in aground mulch in just her underwear(precisely because we don't stress sitting "modestly" is quite uncomfortable. The bike shorts add a layer of protection from heat and dirt/woodchips! |
| We just do pants - seems easier. |
