Parents: What is the longest time you would feel comfortable leaving your children for a trip?

Children are 2.5 and 5, boy and girl.

Would be watched by a combination of family members at a relatives house.

Seriously? A long weekend tops. 3 weeks of vacation away from toddlers is about as selfish as they come. Why have kids?

Actually, no. Kids ages 2 and 5 don't want to be away from their parents for 2-3 weeks. stop ratinonalizing your selfishness. Send them off to Boarding School and 8 week summer camp programs. Then you have your single life back too.

Well said. I was sad when I read the OP.

I suppose if you're a total a-hole, they might. Our seven year old puts up a big protest even if we try to get a babysitter for a few hours.

In 10 years OP will have the party house! I remember my rich friends being left for weeks with clueless grandparents and a nanny. Those were some good times.

Sorry OP I don't get it. The longest we've taken away from DD was a combo mini-vaca and business trip for me. It was 4 nights (and we were more than ready to come get DD, we missed her). She was 2.5 at the time. Honestly all we need is a date night here and there, maybe the occasional overnight. She's a HUGE part of our family and we would much rather take a trip with her.

Though if the parent is enough of an asshole to leave their toddlers for weeks at a time maybe the child is better off away from them

So far, just one night. But my oldest is 3&1/2.

Every time I travel, I haul them and the nanny along.
