I have no idea. I could probably find out, but I'll wait for the surprise like everyone else. |

They were part of the 20. |
They are but principal selection panels - all of them, not just the one at Wilson - have an advisory role. They advise the chancellor, who retains the ultimate authority to assign someone. I'm really not seeing why their outcome would be "scripted" as a result. That's obviously just the way you like to see it. BTW, do you like charter schools or private schools better, where parents and other stakeholders typically are not even consulted in the first place? |
Parents sit on charter school board so not sure how true your statement is. |
Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they're voted onto those boards by the community in an open election for which any parent at the school can run. Maybe some do that but I haven't heard of (m)any. |
Charter Board membership and selection process varies by charter (not shocking). Also some are more open than others. |
| I hope the current interim principal isn't in the running. |
| Rumor has it the new Principal is Kimberly Martin from Aspen, CO public schools. She is pursuing a PhD in Urban Education. |
If so, this article is interesting: http://www.aspentimes.com/news/11726139-113/aspen-association-education-confidence "The Aspen Education Association met Thursday to render a vote of confidence or no confidence in the top two administrators at Aspen High School — Principal Kimberly Martin and Vice Principal Mark Grice." And this: http://aspenpublicradio.org/term/kimberly-martin "Martin’s three years with the district haven’t been easy. Last year she received a vote of no confidence from a group representing teachers. And her staff has filed grievances over a lack of evaluations and a changed student’s grade." |
Most likely true. This was taken from her resignation letter to her current school District on May 12th. "It is with careful consideration that I have decided to leave Aspen High School. As many of you know, before coming to AHS I was pursuing a Doctorate in Urban Education and Policy Studies. I have decided to return to my roots, as it were, and begin working in the area of my greatest passion. I’m very excited about the prospect of pursuing a position in a metropolitan area with opportunities for growth and professional development- and perhaps a chance to get back to work on my dissertation. I am very much looking forward to the continued growth and development that awaits me in my new endeavors. My last day at Aspen High School will be June 30th, but I will begin my move back east before that time." |
| I find a "vote of no confidence" from a teachers union to be a badge of honor. |

OK, but ...
http://painesvilleohio.blogspot.com/2012/05/more-than-feeling-boston.html (some stuff about roads, a lot about her too though) seems to be lots of bad press out there... please someone find something good! |
| I hope this is just a rumor. |
Me too. The last thing Wilson needs is a Principal who has no idea how DCPS works. The school and its students can't afford to wait a few years while someone goes through the learning process. |
