At this age we're 'invisible" so wear what you like!!! |
52 here and in the same boat. And the sad thing is, they say the legs are the last thing to go! |
I'm 55 and I noticed a couple of years ago at my legs had gotten all dimply on my thighs and a I was horrified. I run but I weigh 20-25 lbs more than I'd like. I've reconciled myself to my legs never looking good again. I still wear shorts because it's too damn hot not to. |
You know what's great about being over 50? No one cares if we look that perfect. We are supposed to have some gentle wear and tear on us, ladies. My legs are far from perfect and I wear short dresses and skirts often. Too bad if others don't like it (honestly, though, I doubt anyone pay me much notice). |
Man here. If you were hott once... It always counts . Once a hottie always a hottie. It's how you carry yourself. |
Thanks! That made me smile. |
I can totally relate to all these comments! I'm 51, tall, slim and fit, menopausal, and very fair-skinned. I still look great in leggings and tights, but my bare legs look like crap: spider veins, moles, saggy knees, and skin that in a bad light looks like dripping pancake batter. Oh well. I still wear shorts in public, but I avoid the kinds of shorts that are designed to look sexy, because they look anything but on me at this point! A sense of humour, gratitude, and the realization that nobody else really cares how I look help to put things in perspective ... along with the knowledge that I'm not alone! |
I'm 50 with great legs - until like, 2 years ago? That's when i found "walking" length shorts. They look good. Better than feeling self conscious about the flab sagging over my knee. |
Different guy. I agree. Attractiveness/sexiness has nothing to do with fittest or most beautiful. Smile, walk with confidence, and think that most men want to do you. They do. |
^ this is such a nice comment, I hate to follow it with anything.
Op ~ it's just age. And you are wise to realize that even thin and in shape doesn't mean legs (past a certain age) look their best in every wardrobe selection. Doesn't mean you can't say, "Too bad, I'm comfortable. I'm wearing it anyway!" 50-60ish woman up the street is in magnificent shape. My teens said (privately) "Oh No! Mrs XX in shorts." I said, "What's wrong with that, she's in great shape". they answered, "No one wants to see that!!" I think that's usually true. |
I never had great legs, so I couldn't care less what they look like now. I think very few women, even young women, look good in shorts, especially where your butt cheeks are showing. It grosses me out that my skin would be touching the booth or desk seat or bus seat where some other sweaty person in shorts was just sitting.
To me the most flattering look is a fit and flare skirt. You could wear a cotton skirt that falls just at your knees almost everyday in a casual way instead of shorts or jeans. I also get a spray tan when I know I will be wearing a dress at a special event. The tan makes your legs look better. |
Yet another guy. Sexiness is 90% attitude. Men aren't looking at your flaws in the same way as you are. Smile so their eyes are focused upwards ![]() |
And yet another guy that agrees with all of the above. |
This is me too. No matter what I do, I can't get the bottom half on board. |
Somewhat tangential to the point, I am male and in my mid-60s. I've noticed, (have I ever) women I slightly knew in their early 60s up to nearly 80
who not only had toned, attractive gams, but derrieres as well. Eat and exercise prudently then enjoy what genetics and your own life choices have given you. Age is just a number. As for myself, I never was nor will I ever be, Adonis. But I am in better aerobic and resistance shape than I've ever been. My goal is to be fit for life. Meanwhile, ladies of a certain age, many of us notice with approval. cue sustained applause |
