Wayward pines

Still, Matt Dillon is so great to watch that I have no problem tuning in to watch him beat the crap out of someone.

I also have no problem watching Matt Dillon do anything. Anything at all.

The show reminds me of a short-lived series from a couple years ago -- I think it was called Persons Unknown, where a bunch of people woke up in a small deserted town with no idea how they got there, and no way to get out.

its a well explored theme (a cliche even) in TV and films and sometimes books.

Sadly, when he did the Airbender movie, he pissed off A LOT of people. His movies have sucked way too much of my time over the years, hoping they would return to the caliber of Sixth Sense, but no such luck. I'm not wasting any more time on him.

I really enjoyed The Village, on so many levels. I thought it was genius.

+1
I also loved "The Others".

The village was a rip off of a book. It was a good movie, but a rip off.

A"rip off" as in stolen ideas, or a re-interpretation? Often films are made based on existing books you know...

Don't get me went I LIKE it but apart from the faces I am having trouble finding anything genuinely original about it

That's what I thought too, but let's not forget Children of the Corn! No matter which way you drive, you're stuck in the same town, with every turn leading you back.

I would like it much better without the supernatural alien element that seems to be emerging. The introduction of the zombies spoiled Game of Thrones for me, too. I hate when a good government conspiracy or fantasy show gets wrecked by aliens.

I wonder if they're setting something up similar to "The Village," where it turns out the ruling elders created this fantasy of a frightening creature who would harm them if they tried to leave (or went into the woods). I'm kind of thinking that's what Wayward Pines is going to do - show "creatures" who are really just people in disguise, tricking the townspeople into being too frightened to leave.

By the way, I love Matt Dillon.

I love this show. It reminds of a town I used to live in that I swear was sooooooo similar. Thank goodness I don't live there anymore but this show just brings flashbacks, lol

I couldn't get into it and switched to Aquarius.

I am really into this show, but find Ethan's wife to be curiously unruffled about the whole situation. When she and her son found Ethan, she was a little bewildered, but quickly got over it. Move into a new house after being discharged from the hospital? Um, ok! Send my son to a brand new school? Sure! She just doesn't seem to be reacting in a very realistic way...

I think this needed to be at least three seasons long, one for each book.

Agree. And I don't find it believable that she was nearly an agent.

SPOILER!!!!!

Did anyone see the most recent episode? It's really getting interesting now. At least there's a reason for everything, though I'm still wondering if it's all been made up for some reason. Does anyone really think they're actually 2000 years in the future? Or is this a ruse for something bigger?

I watched it and it totally jumped the shark for me. I'll finish it and while I found the twist interesting the way they went about it with the Abbys was lame lame lame.

Spoiler to answer your question.

Yes, they are. No it isn't. I checked on a spoiler site for the books.
