I am so sorry. Now I wish I can go home and check my mailbox....Anyone got their letter?

PP, what school/program and waitlist #?

I received my letter for my DD in K currently. Closest # on wait list is under 5 for Burnt Mills. If we get it probably won't take it because we really want RCF in which we are in the low 50s. Will consider RT partial spanish low 30s but again really would like to hold out for RCF.

Took the advice of a parent last year and put in this year for all programs. Under 10 for Sligo Creek french and lower 20s for Potomac chinese and upper 20s for College Garden's chinese program. Most likely if selected will only take Spanish.

I'm thinking I should get a letter for my son, or by chance do they just send the results for the older sibling?

If you applied for all three, what is your first, second and third choice in terms of languages? Is spanish immersion the most popular?

Could you comment about why you want RCF? Have you heard good things?

I want full immersion. My children are adopted (Nicaraguan) and I would like for them to be totally immersed in the language of their culture...ancestrally speaking.

Just found out that my son was "invited" to BM but I am most likely going to give up his spot.

We got ours today. Waitlisted at all of them. Our best numbers were 22 at Burnt Mills and 18 at Sligo, so there is some hope, I guess. Our top choice was RCF, but we are 175. Womp, womp.

Anyone else still waiting? Wondering if this will be tomorrow or a days long wait?

I'm the poster who had called the county on Monday, also disappointed in ours:

#22 for Rolling Terrace
#38 for French at Sligo Creek
#215 for Rock Creek Forest -- so even further down the list than the PP 15:04 who had RCF as a #1 choice and was in the 170s.

Me again! Forgot to write that son is 260 ish for RCF and that's not going to happen. Highly unlikely 50+ kids will drop out of RCF for first grade for DD. Now I'm thinking RT but 30 dropping out doesn't seem feasible either. Maybe I'll consider BM or even SC for French. I've read the old threads on both schools. Does anyone have current information?

Still waiting here--we only applied to Potomac (we are in bounds).

Anonymous wrote:Because I am that obsessed (with language immersion, broadly, although we have a fantastic home school): I called the MoCo office responsible for the immersion results this morning.

The woman I spoke to said that ALL letters (not just the first round of those invited to a program) went out in this morning's mail. So they should be coming this week, within the next few days, or even tomorrow.

Feeling better just knowing that the waiting to hear where things stand will end very soon.

Hope this helps others who are as obsessed as I am.

Thanks!! I will be looking forward to see the postman this afternoon.......

from what i hear, up to about 20 or so you will most definitely get in -- we were 40 last year and the list went to 39. we actually have a big problem -- we have 2 in K and 1st. the anchor only works for the younger sibling...and that younger sibling is low teens for rcf. i would not dream of giving that up. my oldest is waitlist in single digits for cg and french at maryvale. s
