Have you met other psychics in the DC area? If so, who do you think is the real deal, and who is a phony?

I've seen Charlie at the Psychic Shop on Conn Ave NW for a few tarot readings. She is pretty good but seems a little exploitative. I saw some woman in Bethesda who seemed like a total fraud.

Unfortunately, answering this question in any way risks revealing who I am (since I am acquainted with at least one psychic in the DC metro area), which I'd prefer not to do. One of the reasons I hide my psychic abilities is because I don't really want to do readings anymore!

I think that these days with the Internet it is probably a safer bet to search for psychics online, where their reviews can be read and you can even check on Google to see if anyone has written about them being a scam.

What is a spirit guide? Does everyone have one or many?

Everyone has one, and sometimes we have more around us or less around us depending on whether or not we are going through a challenging time in our lives. Spirit guides are not necessarily "people", as in human souls or ghosts, so don't think of them like that. They can be loved ones, as I've said in the previous post, but they can be loved ones from a previous life, or just a wise spirit that has no need to exist in the physical world but has come to help you. They work with your higher self, your own soul, to guide you.

Your higher self and your spirit guides know what path your life is supposed to take, and try to guide you in that direction. Your spirit guides formed an agreement with you to watch over you in this life time to help you learn your lessons and grow.

Communicating with them is easy. Find somewhere quiet to meditate. If you need help meditating you can find some guided meditations on YouTube which can be very helpful for beginners. Visualize your connection to the planet and every human soul on it until you feel grounded, and imagine yourself encased in a protective, loving, healing white light. Then mentally ask your spirit guides to help you. They will help, but often you need to be specific. The answers will come to you through your intuition, or through little helpful coincidences in your life that might make a situation easier.

Thanks for posting this OP. I've been trying to get myself to meditate, as I am going thru a hard patch in life, and your description has finally pushed me over and I am going to do it!!!

I've had some interesting, unexplained experiences in my life where I have been able to sense the future or a predicament my loved one was in. Purely unbidden, and only happens rarely. Is there any way you would recommend to tap into this side of myself, aside from the meditation you describe?

In addition to the web, do you think that "new age" fairs and bookstores are good places to meet and consult with psychics?

I had the ability since early childhood, when I noticed that my dreams always came true and I could read people's thoughts, feelings, and futures just by looking at them. My mother was a psychic, but had never worked as one, so I didn't have any awareness that extrasensory perception was a real thing when I first started getting precognitive dreams.

If you talk to a lot of psychics, you'll notice that a lot of them do inherit their ability from family members. Some of them come from a long line of psychics, mediums, reiki healers, etc.

Though the truth we are all have psychic ability, it's just that not everyone has developed it! Your intuition, which you call your gut feeling, is part of that psychic ability, and developing it is just a matter of time, meditation, practice and confidence.

How can you peer into the future through a spirit guide? I'm not sure I understand.

We all have spirit guides. Some may call them guardian angels, or our higher selves. Sometimes your spirit guide is a loved one, but whether or not you have a loved one around you, another spirit guide that is always present is your higher self that speaks to you through your intuition. When I talk about my spirit guide I'm talking about my higher self, my soul consciousness. We can all tap into our higher consciousness whether we have highly developed psychic abilities or not, and it is a great tool for finding wisdom, protection, and "spiritual therapy".

Also, if you can peer into the future, do you believe that our paths are already determined for us? In other words, we don't really have free will but will follow our destiny?

An excellent question! I'm so glad you asked.

Every true, genuine psychic will tell you that the future is NOT set in stone. Psychics do not predict concrete destinies, we predict likelihoods. We can see what path you will go down on if you remain in the same pattern of being as you are when you come to us. Our job is to empower you to make the choices that are in your highest interest, not to tell you what your life will be.

That being said, there are certain paths that our souls choose to take before they come into physical being, so the challenges that life has in store for you will likely find you, in some form or another, no matter what path you choose to take. However every challenge is a gift because it encourages us to grow, and if we manage to achieve that growth early on in our lives, the future challenges will disappear because the lesson has been learned.

Short answer: You have total free will. My job is to tell you what your choices will likely lead to and what choice might be in your best interest.

There is no time in the other realm, so explaining what happens when we die according to our linear understanding of time can be a bit confusing. Souls do reincarnate and I have many stories of helping people connect with their past lives (including my own) which I can share if you wish. But not all souls reincarnate "immediately". Some linger in the other realm, from where they learn other lessons or return in spirit form to help their loved ones on Earth. There is a lot of research being done on reincarnation which goes far beyond the "I have vague memories of being Cleopatra and my memories have suspicious similarities to this particular Hollywood movie." I recommend reading the studies conducted by Dr. Ian Stevenson for further reading but can of course provide some of my own stories.

Sorry there seems to be a lot of questions so I'm just trying to answer all of them! But I'm happy to elaborate on this point if there is interest.

Well considering I'm a nameless, faceless voice on the Internet, the likelihood is probably quite high! But I am the real deal. I can look at someone and sense that they have been abused, I can see into their past and explain to them they whys and hows of the turns their life took, which is often very therapeutic for them and immensely gratifying for me. When I can peer into a difficult period in a client's life and explain the thoughts and motivations of the people who hurt them, the karmic reasons for the situation and the connection their souls have with the person who hurt them, it brings a lot of clarity and relief, and sometimes my advice saves life.

I like to provide a lot of identifying details, giving my client the "there was no way she could have learned that information"
moment. It gives them the validation that they want and need in order to understand that they can trust me. And when they realize my ability is real, and that the messages I'm getting are details that nobody could have told me, it brings them great comfort. Ultimately when we know that there is a divine power that protects and that we ourselves are part of that divine power, we know that nothing we experience in life can hurt us and that is part of the comfort that a psychic brings. The other part, of course, is practical and helpful advice to make my clients' lives better.

Another excellent question. I am glad you asked this. Psychic ability is curious, in that very often psychics will tell you that they cannot read their own lives or the lives of their loved ones. Our emotions and our egos get in the way, and very often our higher selves obscure that path from our sight. We are humans too, after all, and even a psychic has many lessons to learn in this life.

Our ability isn't given to us to gift us material success; material success, our spirit guides know, is not the be-all and end-all of life. And hence, our ability isn't 100% under our control. It's edited by our higher self, and the client's higher self. My ability to read my own life is quite poor. Of course, I would like the win the lottery as much as anyone! I actually tried to win the lottery once or twice as a young woman, lol. I learned an expensive lesson in how fruitless it would be to try and abuse my powers.

Even the most rational, intelligent, educated people in the world are still slaves to their subconscious itches, which is why there are therapists who have psychological issues, marriage counselors who are divorced, lawyers who are in legal trouble, etc.

Psychics, even if they get precognitive warnings of what might be in store for them if they continue to live a certain way, are humans with free will and are perfectly capable of ignoring their own powerful intuitions and continuing on a path of self-destruction.
