If you have a sibling matched preference, you don't get dropped from the waitlist even if you match at a higher ranked schools. As the MySchool FAQ page explains, "Each student is waitlisted at every school he or she ranked higher than the school to which they were matched. (It is possible for a student to be waitlisted at every school on his or her list if they are not matched.) Siblings who apply to the same schools also are waitlisted at any school where one of their siblings is matched." |
| Thanks. So if a school has, say, 2 kids on the waitlist, it's best to look at the school data. Because the school could be totally full and have 2 kids waiting, or it could have a lot of openings despite having kids on the wait list. |
Not a Powell parent, but you're an ass. |

I think for PK4, Langley is a good pick. It has 2 available PK4 spots for round 2. (11 available spots for PK3.) Test scores aren't good yet, but the boundary change put northern Bloomingdale in-boundary. Previously, Bloomingdale had IB preference at Langley, Seaton, and Garrison. Now that the neighborhood has only one choice, some people are bound to focus on it.
It might take a year or two, but Langley is likely to improve a lot. Bloomingdale is baby central and all those kids have to go somewhere. The facility is beautiful and the principal has a great reputation. |
