Do people question whether I am serious? My son has always been 99.5% in weight and height so of course its not weird if he is bigger than your babies.

Probably because even at that weight - which is a common weight for older kids who are still in diapers - he should still be able to fit in diapers. So people are assuming you are either lying, exaggerating, or don't know how diapers are supposed to fit.

I would try another brand. It may be the brand that is ill-fitting, not the size. Otherwise cloth.

Size 6 starts at 35 lbs so yeah, it is a little odd that your one year old who weighs several pounds less than that can't fit.

Try a different brand?

Try another brand. You can always buy them at Costco and Sams and return if they aren't working for you. I just tried Luvs trying to be cheaper and the size 4 are much smaller and less absorbent compared to Huggies or Kirkland. We had blowouts almost nightly. Like the OP I always was up a size way before the size on the box indicates since I like them nice and big.

So funny, because we switched to Luvs when we had too many blowouts with Huggies. Through 3 kids I've discovered a lot REALLY depends on baby's size/shape.

My 48 pound, 46 inch tall 4 year old still sleeps in a size 6 diaper at night. Huggies brand. Maybe they run bigger than other brands.

I'd leave that size for a few more months. My 35 pound 18 month old is now a 46 pound 6 year old. I found the diapers fit better once my child started running at 15 months.

We never got out of 3's but potty trained at 1

Wow. Why don't you have him on pullups so he can put them on himself? This seems a bit infantilizing for a 4yo.

underjams!!!!! They are super absorbent but fit perfectly for my HUGE 3 year old. Look them up!

OP is asking bc usually you size up on nighttime diapers. I always know when to move up once my DD starts leaking. 15months, 95% in weight and height, she's just now growing out of size 5s. Not that hard to believe that some babies are just big.

Person who said she was truly amazed at the range of sizes -- I wasn't questioning you at all, I really mean it, I AM amazed at the difference in sizes of children. My kid really is teeny tiny, she has had a consistent 2nd percentile head, for example. I can't believe diapers only go up to a size 6 when she's already in 4s!
