Bobs discount furniture, what is your experience, is it all crap?

We've bought two sets of "leather" couches there. They've been fine. Not luxury stuff, but with young kids and dogs, we consider it relatively disposable and will upgrade some day down the road when everything isn't ruined within minutes of entering our house. But the quality has been fine if you're not looking for heirloom pieces.

We bought a dresser once. It was crap.

I wonder about Bob’s beds, though.

And I've bought furniture happily from Value City before. I'm no snob. That place was strange.

It’s really sad that any of these junk shops exist!

You could find better furniture made of solid wood on Craig’s list. And a mattress from Bobs? Ewww.

A lot of high quality goods are made in China, including some high priced furniture from high end brands. It's about the standards of the company doing the quality control. They are going to make it to the level that the company requires.

Nothing pasted together with glue and formaldehyde is high end - even if Pottery Barn is selling it for a high price (which it does).

DD has a bed from there for 4 years. And is happy with a sofa sectional - had that for 2+ years

Are you arguing everything from China is made a certain way? Because it's a big country, and thousands of companies do business there. And you'd be wrong.

We bought a sectional there recently, for a new teen space in the basement. Soft, comfortable, it's only been 4 months, but so far so good. Plus for $150 more, I forget the name of the deal, but any issue with it, they will fix. A tear, a stain, anything. If they can't fix it or clean it, they will replace it. If they don't have it to replace it, they will give you the full price you paid towards another one at the store. The deal lasts for 5 years. Given that the space is for teenagers, who will be out of the house in 5 years, I thought that was good deal!

We bought a guest bed with a trundle there several years ago. We didn't buy the mattresses there. The bed has held up well. We also bought a desk there because we wanted something cheap - we got it for $70 because there was a scratch on the underside which is not visible. It has worked fine. We've had both about 5 years. I probably would not buy a sofa, dining table, or other heavily used piece of furniture there though. Our kids love the candy area.

We just bought a dining room table there. It looks OK and we'll replace it once we don't have toddlers and au pairs. In a whole warehouse of stuff, we liked maybe 2 things.

Their warranty is called "Goof proof" I believe. They said it covers water rings or whatever on the table.

Bought a kitchen table there years ago. It scratched easily and was wobbily.

Went there recently looking for something and thought it was all ugly.

We bought a dining room table from there. It was solid mango wood. We've had it about 3 years and it's held up really well, is super sturdy and solid. We didn't want something expensive because we have little kids. I don't want to be worried and scratches or spills or markers on it. But honestly, it still looks brand new. And it had two leaves and expands to be really huge.

We did not buy the chairs that were sold with it because those looked cheap. We got better chairs at Pier 1.

I would not buy a dresser from there because they are super flimsy and I think you can get something better at Ikea.

+1 The problem is that you have to do some legwork.
