Bobs is Ikea furniture that has already been put together |
I bought a table from a5 piece set. I said I didn't know if I could use the chairs. Salesman said if I decided I wanted the 4 chairs, they would prorate them to reflect the 5 piece price.
I went back into the store a week later and was told. "Oh, we don't do that". I've asked numerous times for a call from customer service........ nothing. I had planned to purchase dining room chairs and a mattress from there. No way! With that kind of "customer service ". Stay away from them! |
zombie thread alert. but, yeah, bob's is all crap. |
I bought a sofa chair and ottoman and a adjustable bed frame and head and foot board at the Nashua New Hampshire store the kid that waited on us name was justice did not know his ass from his elbow and I’m sure it’s because the manager doesn’t care that his help is not trained properly he explained to my wife that we did not need to purchase a box spring with the adjustable base so what was delivered was a mattress and boxspring no head and foot board and no adjustable base when I called and talked to justice he apologized and admitted that he screwed up then I spoke with the manager that refused to make it right absolutely the worst company I’ve ever dealt with and never will again I will bad mouth them until the day they go out of business because they will in hopefully the near future do yourself a favor and don’t even think about going in any of their shit hole stores sincerely

We used to do this for fun also. They used to have much better quality candy and the used to bake those Otis spunkmier cookies. They used to scoop ice cream. Now it’s all crappy stuff. Not really worth it anymore |
We have a sectional in our basement/teen hangout area now man cave that's going on 11 years and is just fine. Kids are out of college and on their own, spouse took over the basement |
You have to go look at it. I got bedroom furniture and it is all wood but the others I looked at there were particle board. Love it but it offgased for months. Had gotten a mattress there and the smell was horrific after airing it out and returning it. |
Nope! Room and Board (sale) or nothing. |
Ikea is visibly much better quality and more study than Bob’s, which maybe is a good yardstick. In our experience Bob’s is bottom of the barrel. |
Good furniture, even modestly taken care of, will last decades - even centuries, reupholstering now and then. Whether the style is timeless is a very different question.
Bob's furniture won't last decades; Bob's furniture struggles to last a single decade with modest care. But you can always get a new style. So, yeah, Bob's furniture is crap, but crap with a purpose. And something to send off with your kids when they're furnishing their first apartments so you can finally get decent stuff. |
We have bought a lot of furniture over the years, since we didn't get any hand me downs from family. My family is also rough on furniture (big husband, lots of kids, and dogs)
I would put Bobs at the bottom. Value City, Ashley, and Ikea are better quality. Then Marlows. Havertys actually has been great we have bought several things from them and I am shocked at how well they have held up. We also like Macys. So we are not buying super expensive furniture. Bobs did replace a sofa for us with a new one when the seams started to go. When looking at furniture I will look at the construction (wood, mdf, etc), seams, and density of cushions - they give over time. You can find decent pieces in most places. Ikea has really good solid wood pieces that will last forever. |
Which model do you have from Havertys, Macy's and IKEA? I'm looking for a couch that won't break the bank but will hold up a few years and looks passable. |
