Real Housewives of NYC

I am embarrassed to say I am addicted to this show

I agree Bethenny seems the most real out of all of them but MAN does she have an annoying way of speaking.

I love Jill. Would love to have Bethany as a drinking buddy before I got married. Simon makes MY flesh crawl - yick! And I despise Kelly even though I don't know much about her. Maybe it's the fact that she keeps falling off horses.

I love this show too. I watched Atlanta and OC but maybe because I am an ex-New Yorker the NYC one seems the most real to me. Jill and Bethany are my favorites. I just wish I had Bethany's comebacks. I can think of few times on my last job that a "Holy inappropriateness!" would have been very clever comeback to some of the things said. Ramona - she can be something - but in some ways I feel like I know someone like her. She isn't all bad - some of the things she says I can kind of see her point. She is just very opinionated and not really about the diplomacy and suger coating it. Are they catty - yes. But as I told someone, I don't know if I can trust anyone that doesn't have a little bit of cattiness - then I'd have to wonder if the sweet as sugar thing is an act. I think Jill, Ramona, Bethany and even the Countess all have a story, they are all strong women, and they have success in their own right, not just because of their husbands or significant other. I don't like Kelly - I can't wait to see how this plays out. With Alex and Simon - Alex has a certain reserve that I can't get past. I can't see my husband going with me shopping (and liking it) but to each their own.

Is this your view on reality TV or people in the real world? RE: cattiness

Do we think Ramona was just baiting the Countess last night?

The Countess wasn't looking to good in any respect last night...at least that was the edit we saw!

I'm not a Ramona fan at all, but I found myself rooting for her in the face of the uppity Countess, who was talking about how "pissed off" she was. Very discountess, as Bethenny would say.

Last night was awesome..here are my thoughts.

Ramona was out of hand rude..and in front of the countess' little girl was just mean. The countess can be a bit much but attacking her husband's age while at a fundraiser was terrible--Romona just knows no boundaries and I gave the countess credit for not throwing her out. What I thought was interesting was how Romona went on and on about how old the count was..hello Romona is 52 and the guy is 55--I might have thrown that back in her face. Have to say that I am surprised that the Countess is only 40 because she seems old. Makes me wonder if it's true that marrying older eventually gives you an older look. hmmmm.. By the way..Did anyone notice the lady in the background cooking who obviously was obviously fighting cancer--I thought god this whole scenario is just so bad...

Bethany--I would have been angry about the retouching comment and yes it was intentional--I think the countess was plain jealous. That being said, there is something just so plastic about Bethany's looks from the awful boob and nose job to how she goes on and on about how she is a businesswoman--I still find her interesting.

How about the juxtaposition of the amazine pool at Ramonas to Alex and Simon's blow up pool..priceless.

I have got to get a life so this stuff isn't so addictive!!

My IQ just dropped 10 points.

I had to confess to my husband last night that I watch it, just so I could see the showdown. I usually catch up on the weekends when he's out the with kids and I'm cleaning !!! He finally walked in to see what the big deal was and saw the scene of Ramona "dancing" by herself at the last party - the Socialite mag thing - and was in hysterics. Who is that chick and what the F is she doing?!?! Then I gave him the run down on each of the crazy women. I think he might start watching hoping there will be a cat fight and clothes start flying off (every straight man's dream...)!

I still want to know what Ramona is hopped up on. Any guesses?

Other New Yorker here. I think that some of the cattiness is just honesty and speaking your mind. I know people like Ramona too - they just have no filters and don't know how to stop saying everything that pops into their heads, even if it offends other people. At any rate, it makes for great tv.

My fav scene last night was Alex and Simon waxing poetic about their blow-up pool and how special it was....also Alex needs a square meal. It's rare that I think someone is too skinny, but she looks emaciated in that bikini.

I got my husband's interns (male) hooked on this show, so it's possible!

My take: Ramona was rude but the Countess was overreacting to the comment about her husband's age.

The Countess probably had less than pure motives in mentioning the "retouching" but Bethenny also overreacted.

Bethany tosses insults around all the time, but she's pretty sensitive when people criticize her.

I thought the Countess was overreacting too, but I have to confess that I admired the way she just squashed Ramona. Ramona was practically shaking and had to apologize over and over again.

Does anyone know how they cast this show? Did the women have any relationship to one another before the show began filming? They just seem thrown together and it feels more contrived than shows like Laguna Beach or the Hills (and I think that is saying something).

That being said, I have only seen a couple episodes and am quickly getting sucked in.
