Almost 4 years. Two mc. No baby. Many tears.
Trying first IUI this cycle (with Femara and Ovidrel). Wishing all the best of luck, may 2015 be THE year. |
If you can get pregnant within six months on your own you DO NOT have unexplained infertility. In fact you don't have infertility at all. |

GYN doc said "fertility clinics just love people like you b/c you are young and healthy and you'll get pregnant so fast since all your bloodwork etc looks good."
5 failed IUIs, basically back-to-back. IVF wasn't for me. We took a break. Then got pregnant on own a few months later on our own. However, the window a new GYN calculated for conception was NO WHERE near when we had sex. Made me wonder if I really wasn't ovulating when they thought. Late ovulator or something. A couple years later I had a hysterectomy due to menstrual issues my RE didn't think related to being able to get pregnant. I too had wondered if I had endometriosis but it was confirmed I did not. Uterus all well and good -- well, until they cut it out of course. So in the end, I have no idea why 5 IUIs failed. |

A lap is serious. Don't do it unless you know you need a tube removed (or something else) or are certain of endometriosis. It's always described as minor outpatient surgery. But it's still surgery that knocks you off your game for awhile.
Agreed 100%. It was a full 3 week recovery for me, and I had help from family and DH. |
LOL I am the PP who ended up having endo. I still recall how enthusiastic my RE was after my initial testing came back all normal.... "I see no reason you won't be pregnant within the next 6 months!" And I can't get over how dismissive he was that *maybe* my horrible periods might have something to do with our difficulties. I've since switched RE's. |
| I had 3-4 clomid IUIs with no more than two follicles each time. All BFN. First round of injectibles with IUI I got four follicles and one took. He is now 2.5 years old. |
| Unexplained IF, 2 years TTC on our own in our early-mid 30s, then 6 mos of unsuccessful IUIs, then finally a successful eSET IVF on first try (ID twins). Even though I have two healthy kids and no regrets, I'm still curious as to why we couldn't do it on our own. Under 35, no MF, regular cycles, normal blood work, clear genetic testing, good med responder, clear tubes, good lining, etc. During IVF they found a uterine polyp that they removed, but don't know if that had anything to do with our IF. |
| I had fifteen on one side and seventeen on the other this morning. We will start iui in the new year. Do you think they will have me take meds? |
If 35 or over, yes, it is. |
Tried for first 23 cycles on our own with BFN. Did cycles 25-26 as IUIs, and I got pregnant the next month. OB said that clomid could've helped me get pregnant and hold the pregnancy. |
So completely wrong. The average (young, fertile) couple takes 5 months to get pregnant, on average. Clinics recommend you start looking at fertility treatment if over 35 when you have been trying AT LEAST six months. However, this is less than the average amount of time it takes for most 35 plus couples to get pregnant. |
I had a uterine polyp removed and got pregnant exactly two weeks later. I definitely think the two were related. I also have a friend who had two miscarriages that were thought to be due to a polyp -- once it was removed she got pregnant almost immediately. |
I'm 2 years 2 miscarriages 2 chemicals. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the both of use! |
| I could have written your post OP! Unexplained infertility even after first ivf failed. Ivf confirmed that everything was perfect! Second ivf did an endometrial scratch. Convinced that is what did. Suggest anyone with unexplained diagnosis try that first. Some obgyns will do it for you as some fertility clinics will only do it with ivf. Never had a bro. Before that cycle. Little 7 month old is sleeping upstairs. Started ttc at 33. Ivf at 34 and 35 (4 months apart). Pregnant after second ivf. |
| Tried for 3 years, 3 cycles of timed intercourse and 1 iui all with injectibles, nothing. Finally got pregnant with ivf. RE told us our chance of naturally getting pregnant was less than 1%. |
