It's ok if you can only do carbs. For myself, I did find that when I managed to get some protein down I felt a lot better afterwards. So you might want to try and see if that works for you. |
Smoothies helped for me. I couldn't eat much but smoothies were cold and refreshing. Add some full fat Greek yogurt for protein. Crackers helped. Eat before you go to bed and right when you wake up. I even ate a few in the middle of the night. |
French toast with maple syrup. Smoothies with greek yogurt for protein. Sour things. I made sure to chew everything really well, I had HG so I vomited frequently and if you chew the food really well its easier on the way out (just realized how disgusting that sounds, but that was my reality for the first 5 months of my pregnancy). Coconut, yogurt and banana smoothies. Throw in some protein powder if you can. Also cottage cheese. At first, just try to eat whatever you're able to keep down and don't forget your prenatal vitamins! Also, I found that half the time, I felt better after having eaten. The things that really actually made me sick were all smell related (getting stuck in traffic behind a smelly garbage truck or an oyster recycling truck - who knew that was a thing?? - were hell for me). |
I carbed it up too even though I'm usually a low carb person. I ate muffins, toast and butter, some cheese or yogurt, baguettes, waffles.
I also tried to load up when I felt my nausea was at the lowest point of the day. |
My doctor said to eat what you can and don't stress about not getting the "right" kinds of foods.
I'm living on graham crackers, strawberries and ice cream, pears, milk and pb&j (but bread suddenly started to smell weird to me, so that may be out). If you want to add some protein to your diet, a great one that I use mixed into coconut water (Harvest Bay is the best) but you can add it to almost anything since it has no taste and dissolves easily--Great Lakes Collagen (in the green can). |
