Morning sickness - and what to eat!

Anonymous
This is my second pregnancy, so I should be better versed in this, but I only had a little nausea for my first kid. Now it's an all-day, can't look at food thing. Clearly I need to eat. Please give me suggestions. I can't live off of oatmeal and prenatal vitamins!

Sorry OP, I lived off of pretzels, ginger ale and Vitamin Water Zero for 8-10 weeks. I remember it like it was yesterday. I also worked out each day and that took away my nausea, as strange as it sounds. Good luck and hang in there!

::Looks at mozzarella sticks and plain popcorn:: Yep, that's my lunch. Yesterday I had pretzels, Triscuits and plain pasta. Oh, and those little Halo oranges.

Take walks outside. The fresh air always helped me.

Oatmeal, plain popcorn, dry cheerios…that was me for awhile there!

Plain baked chicken and ginger tea.

Whole wheat crackers and real lemonade -- pretty much all I ate for the first 14 weeks.

Grab a candy cane, OP. Peppermint helps a lot and candy canes are plentiful right now.

So it's not a huge deal if I just eat what I can..oatmeal, crackers, I'm loving the candy cane idea. This is helpful, thanks!

Eat whatever seems appetizing. Crackers, plain pasta, mashed potatoes worked for me.

Just eat what you can, but try to get some protein and fats and don't just live on carbs. Almonds were helpful for me. Also full-fat cream cheese on crackers.

Whatever you can get down. In my first pregnancy, it was only strawberries or strawberry popsicles. For my second, it was salad. Whatever stays down is good. Oatmeal does have some protein and fiber, so I think you're doing pretty well.

Lemon water and ginger candy was helpful for me, and eating as soon as I got a little twinge of hunger.

As a counterpoint to this, I lived on carbs for 5-6 weeks. And cheese, I guess. My midwife said it was fine.

Eat whatever you can...even if it's just oatmeal. I am just coming off my sickness now, finally! I couldn't eat anything sweet so even granola bars were out for me. I ate a lot of scrambled eggs and cheese sticks.
