By lying. And getting lucky. I do agree with Gruber that progressives need to be lied to. The flu shot sucks this year. Coincidence? No. Just like with enterovirus, It's a product of government idiocy |
| Right because the private sector did so well on their own with vaccines. |
Gasp! FOX??!! Why, reading the messages here, I thought Fox never told the truth about anything!!!!
(I agree with you, pp) |
The comments to that pretty much prove the point that hysteria was rampant. |
Smith was unique on Fox in not joining the ebola hysteria. But, you can't deny that he was very much an exception on Fox and does not make up for the rest of the network's coverage. |
|
I listen to conservative radio. Not ONE host was screaming the sky is falling. They were, on the other hand, taking the CDC to task for being disorganized and questioning Obama's decision-making skills, such that they are.
I did notice a lot of liberals on this site who were very concerned about Ebola - perhaps Jeff wants to include them in his mockery? Personally, I understand why people were worried - it's simply human nature. You are concerned for yourself, for your loved ones, and it feels terribly out of your control. People like to feel in control. |
Cue Glenn Beck: http://www.rightwingwatch.org/content/glenn-beck-finally-has-his-screaming-meltdown-over-ebola He didn't literally say the sky is falling, but he said that this would "literally be the death of all of us". |
Excuse me... I'm a "right winger" with a medical background who also attempted to come on here and calm the hysteria... I got flamed. I think it's unfair of you to claim it was just "right wingers" spreading the panic here. |
I don't remember any on the left spreading the specific lies mentioned by Politifact. You are correct that a couple of liberals wet their pants and wanted to hide under their beds, but that is a separate issue. |
I listen to him every day. He did not say Ebola itself would be the death of us all. He said the idiocy surrounding Ebola will be the death of us all. He specifically said that he wasn't worried about Ebola itself and he is living in Dallas. From the article: "so naturally he spent a good portion of his radio program today having a screaming meltdown about how government incompetence is "literally going to be the death of all of us" and declaring that millions of Americans should be gathering in protest outside of the White House, demanding a ban on travel from West African nations' He was mighty pissed at the fallout that poor nurse took for trying to do the right thing regarding calling the incompetent CDC. He was also pissed off that private businesses were affected by this whole thing (cleanup, fear, etc). People forgot about those affected by the President's decision and the money spent as a result. |
Politfact doesn't mention that the President was told in early Sept. that Ebola would reach our shores if he did nothing. Indeed it did. That little detail was hidden from the public. I will say the way you treated people who frequent your forum, who you ask to keep ads enabled so you can make money, was pretty shabby. Indeed your comment above reflects that. If you are going to ask people to keep ads enabled, might I suggest that you treat others with respect so they actually care whether or not you make a living at this? |
If I don't make a living at this, you won't be able to come here and troll me and spread the gospel according to Beck and Breitbart. So, you should keep ads enabled out of self-interest. The President never denied that ebola might reach our shores. His position always was that it could be contained as, indeed, it was. I remember a certain poster being so convinced that ebola was spreading that she accused the government of not being truthful about the numbers of infected people. |
I think the American people, had they known that the President was told it would reach our shores by end of Sept in early Sept, would have had much to say. Which is why that little fact was kept from them in early September, when it was known. You have that a bit backward: I was not convinced it was spreading, nor was I panicking about it spreading. I didn't believe for a moment that this government would tell the truth. So yes, I do believe that this government would have lied about the numbers of infected people. I believe they would have covered up deaths. They lied to us about enterovirus 68 and where it came from, only to come back later and say, 'well, yeah....illegals....possiblity...." They denied what border agents were seeing and reporting, in fact, silenced them when they could. They also lie to us about a number of other things, and seem to have no respect at all for the rule of law. What you mistake as 'panic' is really a well-earned distrust for the current commander-in-chief. And you can take this to the bank: I think this is just the beginning of what people will see from Obama. As the next two years unfold, this man will continue to disregard the rule of law to the point where the masses, who thought he was the second coming, will finally see who they really elected. They will realize they have been used. I have prepared financially. The worst that happens to me is that I still have my wealth. The question is, will you? |
In point of fact, he said that it would "literally be the death of us" if we did not shut off air travel to West Africa. That turned out not to be true. We are not dead. |

"You want a reason to have food storage? You want a reason to have gold? You want a reason to have guns? You want a reason to have God? It's called 'Ebola.'"
