While I like BJ's a lot for various cuts of meat, their pork shoulder butts are terrible. It's a real bony cut that they sell. I like the shoulder blade roasts that Safeway sells for pork bbq. Plus a good vinegar based sauce. |
I'm coming to your party and don't eat pork. What else ya got? |
I just grab two big forks and attack, LOL!! |
I just bought pork shoulder for $1.79/pound. Put the whole thing in my slow cooker with spices, vinegar, liquid smoke, and a couple chipotle peppers. It was awesome. |
Veggie platter Fruit platter Cheese & crackers Meatballs Chick fila nuggets Mac n cheese Coleslaw Potato salad Have I got you covered? I know not everyone will eat pork |
Pork shoulder actually cheaper at Wegmans than bjs. $1.59/pound |
Buy pulled pork at Costco, it is excellent, add your own sauce. |
Make it if it'll taste good. If not buy it. Bad pulled pork is truly awful. |
Exactly! |
Don't do this. It changes the texture and becomes gross . |
OP here. I am sticking with traditional. Doing Tyler Florence's dry rub tonight, letting it sit overnight, and cooking tomorrow. I will try his version of the sauce and see if its good. I hate oversauced pulled pork so I'll probably be light on it and then provide jarred sauces on the side. Sound okay? So no freezing, party is Saturday. |
i woudl make it but if you want it to be good and not taste like rubber and bland, vook it on a smoker low and slow with lump charcoal and it will shread like a wet paper towel and it will be amazing . simple recipe too, coat butt with yellow mustard, coat with favorite rub, cook at 225 for 2 hours a pound until internal temp is 195 wrap in foil and palc ein cooler for an hour or two and shread,
you will never use a crock pot again and if u use the right lump you will nto have to open the smoker once during the process. |
liquid smoke is like giving your newborn formula, total lazy way out. |
does OP have a smoker? |
OP here. I do not have a smoker |
