Can you earn extra money?

(9:42 here - I can't just cut costs because the majority of my income goes to mortgage, utilities, college savings, extended day and other things that are pretty much fixed. Child support is a big chunk of household income.)

Nope, I'm a government lawyer, and getting permission for outside employment that would be worth it (meaning, not a Starbucks barista on weekends, which wouldn't cover chlidcare after taxes in my bracket) is impossible, and it would mean admitting to many layers of bosses that I need money. (I am doing fine but not great, but that embarrassment factor would be a huge deterrent.)

I'd have to cut costs.

I seel on eBay, Craigslist, and at kids' consignment sales. I make a few thousand per year depending on how motivated I am and what merchandise I have.

How did you get started with that? Can you teach with just a master's degree?

I'm a web developer so I take on side projects, but we'll also tighten the budget. When we have more than enough money I tend to buy more pantry items, so it's pretty easy for us to only need to spend $30ish/week on food (produce/proteins). I also sell things on eBay and at consignment sales.

Can someone please post how to get hooked up with selling plasma? I can't ever find out how to do it.

I used to wait tables one weekend shift a week for extra income (I'd worked at that restaurant while in college. They never would have just hired someone for one shift per week). It helped me add at least $100 a week to my income. My husband and I also rented out a room in our house to a friend until we needed it for a nursery.

Do you resell stuff that other people have given away for free? If so, you are loathsome.

I don't take things for free from anyone directly and then turn around and sell it. I primarily shop at yard sales and thrift stores for both my family and for resale. I also sell things that we own that we no longer want like old toys and clothes that my kids outgrow. If a friend or neighbor passes something along to me for free, I pass it along for free to the next person when we're done with it. I have, however, found things on the curb on trash day that I've turned around and sold. I don't have a problem with that.

I've never been able to find a place local. Closest I've found is Richmond. Anyone know of local places?
