That there even is a debate is ridiculous |
They think it will bring them ISIS pals - 'hey dude, I'm on your side' |
There is no debate. Even with today's relativism, this is beyond debate. |
Maybe they think they will be spared? |
I think they are young and uninformed. They view the world as good and all the evil in the world is the result of US policies. Give them a few years and some experience - most of them will change their tune. |
Maybe they should look up Bosnia |
Actually, I doubt we would have done what we did then under this President. The US has certainly had some terrible foreign policy. We have also soared to amazing, altruistic heights. And we do offer a hopeful vision of government and tolerance to the world, which was why moments when people subscribe to that and fail (Tianneman Square, the Green Revolution in Iran) are so tragic. We ARE the last, best hope--but sometimes the time and place is not ready for it or evil simply wins. Unfortunately, under this president, I simply have not seen the US actions that offer the 'good' side - in deed or even in word -- of American intervention to the world. He is finally playing catch up with ISIS. God willing, it is not too little too late. |
If you actually look at this link, you find the casualty estimate includes " Coalition and insurgent military action, sectarian violence and increased criminal violence." Aside for the "U.S. is the source of all evil" crowd, I don't think most people blame the U.S. for the daily terror bombings committed by Al Qaeda in Iraq. |
I am calling the White House now to ask the President return to Washington to lead the nation.
Just a busy signal. No message, No, "I'm on holiday, please leave your name..." |
He should be in Missouri. |
according to conservatives here on DCUM ferguson is none of his business. |
I have no problem if the President wants to visit the site of a national disaster. Wasn't that why Bush got slammed?
I'm starting to feel like Edward the III and Wallis Simpson are running this country. "I'd rather be on vacation...." http://lucylovesalliteration.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/dukeanddutchessofwindsor.jpg |
To all ISIS supporters/defenders: please read about their actions, and then reconsider your viewpoint. They are a horrible, inhumane group who target the Yazidis, and want to commit genocide on them, just for their ethnic group. They must be stopped. |
No. The OP didn't say Isis has the right to terrorize and kill. The fact is that we need to learn the lesson that our mistake in Iraq provided the opportunity and the reason for a group like ISIS. Radical nut jobs do not build a movement and an army out of nowhere. Desperation is a fertile soil for extremism, and in the case of ISIS we created that desperation. So they are wrong and they are evil. But we are still culpable. |
09:50 here. The OP clearly seemed to me to be equivocating ISIS's actions to the US's, and saying that ISIS had a reason to be "angry" (which is a major misrepresentation of their motives). I could have been wrong, though. |
