I quit smoking on Monday - at what point will I not feel like killing someone?!

1. Post it's on your computer about what's gross about it
2. Each urge- stretch, pick your nose. Chew ice, eat an apple, anything to "swap habits"
After the first week it is much easier, I promise and you really have so much to be proud of!
Signed- quitting now!

Stop doing anything that you associate with smoking that you can. Like if you had coffee with a smoke switch to decaf tea. Do not drink alcohol. You will want to smoke if you do. Don't hang out with people who smoke. Become a health nut, read health magazines, workout, go to bed early, hang out at the library, watch funny movies, get a pet. You can do it!!!!!

The first week is the hardest! After one month you should be feeling a lot better. Try to keep your mind busy or go to places you know you can't smoke like the gym or the movies. Whatever you do never allow yourself to have even a drag. You want to quit only once.

19:39- I'm the OP and now 7 days in. It gets much easier after 3 days...I no longer want to kill people, for example

You are doing a great job!! Take it one hour and then one day at a time and find what ever helps you get through. For me it has been ice tea, Popsicles, lollipops and gum...

Also, google reddit quit smoking- it is a great community and provides lots of great support and information.

Good luck!!

Day 5 was the worst for me. I went to the movies and stayed through 3 different shows. Can't smoke at the movies!

I do remember almost lighting up around week 3, but when I opened a friend's pack of cigarettes, I actually hated the smell.

Hang in there. Quitting sucks, but it's SO worth it.

and It's SO WORTH IT ++

I used to smoke. So glad I quit. Took forever. Now I am so grossed out by the smell. I totally get the born-again former smoker thing, lol.

I had to stop drinking coffee because I wanted a cig with it so badly. Now I drink it at work once in awhile, fine, but not at home in the morning when I get up.

Also once in awhile when I am super stressed and want to just puff away and blow smoke, I use an e-cig (vapor) with no tobacco.
