PP, it has absolutely nothing to do with gifts. We did senior pictures where I was from (not DC) and in the 80s no less. You hand them out to your friends. My guess is OP is looking for a portrait studio. OP, you might have better luck on the older kids forum. The PPs on this forum seem rather dense. |
You really don't see the difference between elementary/middle school graduation and high school graduation? You don't sound very smart. |
Really? You must be in a super elite private. I know of no one in my DC's class of 500 who did that. Her "required" photos for the yearbook were fantastic and cheap. We sent it out with the standard announcements without any expectation of money or gifts. It was a moment of great celebration for us since DC is SN. And now onto college expenses so no way are we spending thousands on some outdoorsy set photos (but then I'm one of those who hates the standard beach photo of the family in all white. So posed. So fake. Sure we all look like that and sit like that at the beach in Nantucket. NOT). |
This is ridiculous. Op so asking for picture suggestions. Not personal opinions on graduation pictures.
I would do Georgetown, down by the canal. |
Another one who did not grow up here, graduated high school 21 years ago and everyone did them. |
We are in a MoCo public and I'd say about 50% of the girls did the outdoor pics on top of the yearbook ones.

+1000000 Wh oARE these people who have to chime in with how much better they think they are? No one cares. Shut it. |
How about a photo studio? |
Wow, you are a bitter pill. |
What? I don't understand. |
Again, you don't sound very smart. |
All of this over senior pictures? It's not like they're have a commissioned portrait painted of their daughter. Like another pp, I graduated high school 20 yrs ago and senior pictures were a part of the ritual, along with a class ring and school jacket. You pass out the photos to friends, write a note on the back and it's a keepsake. Of course, as technology has evolved, ordering 100 wallet size pictures seems a bit overkill, but the images are a beautiful memory. It was one of those special occasions that made me feel very special to have all this fussing over me. Granted, when I was growing up, we didn't celebrate every graduation from elementary school and middle school. School pictures were taken once a year, but the senior pics were always special. For the record, OP, even 20 years ago I had indoor & outdoor photos taken. I even took my pet with me and had 4 or 5 outfit changes. I think they were a couple hundred dollars. From a lower-middle class family and attended public school.

Same places for weddings. Jefferson memorial cherry blossoms (good luck), in front of monument, the kennedy center hallways.... |
My DD did these but they were on the grounds of her school (Madeira, which is beautiful). They were also on graduation day so all the girls were in their white dresses. It was worthwhile to have nice graduation pictures. We didn't do a separate senior picture. |
