Granted, when I was growing up, we didn't celebrate every graduation from elementary school and middle school.  School pictures were taken once a year, but the senior pics were always special.  For the record, OP, even 20 years ago I had indoor & outdoor photos taken.  I even took my pet with me and had 4 or 5 outfit changes.  I think they were a couple hundred dollars.  From a lower-middle class family and attended public school.
