Need to move to MD/Dc in the next few weeks and looking for an area with good good elementary ,HS

The other option would be a Deal/Wilson neighborhood and commute via chain bridge. Hearts/Murch/Janney/Eaton neighborhoods is where I would look.

Tenleytown is Dc, right ?

Right.

If you are going to be working in NoVA and you want MCPS, you want the 20816 zipcode so you can easily get to Virginia via Chain Bridge or the Beltway At Clara Barton Pky. If you also want diversity, you want the part of 20816 that feeds to Westland MS and B-CC HS instead of Pyle and Whitman. B-CC is not particularly convenient to the neighborhoods in 20816 but Westland and the elementary schools - Westbrook in particular - are. So if you're doing drop off and pickup with ES and MS they are right there and your HS kid will need to be more independent.

I live in 20816 and work in Arlington. Commute over Chain Bridge is easy, takes 20-30 minutes...can also go over Key Bridge for about the same drive, depending on traffic. I don't bother with the Beltway, but it is easy -- 10-15 minutes to McLean in non-rush hour traffic. I would look at neighborhoods around Westbrook and Wood Acres -- agree that diversity is better further east, but your commute to NoVA can nearly double if you are in East Bethesda, frankly...even if you're just over at Somerset (Chevy Chase). I have done that drive and it's shocking how much time those extra 3-4 miles can take to cover. Since you have kids at all levels, Wood Acres would be more convenient than Westbrook because the schools are within 5-10 minutes of each other. But Whitman is probably the least diverse of the Bethesda clusters. Strong academics, though. For Westbrook, the ES and MS are close together, but BCC can be a bit of a haul, especially during rush hour, since it is on the other side of "downtown" Bethesda.

Agree that 20816 is a good choice if you can find rental houses. I live in 20816 and BCC is very convenient to us. In fact I think it's about the same distance (2-3 miles) from our house as Whitman, which is where we are zoned. MCPS provides bus service. I don't know anyone who would drive their kids to 3 different schools when the bus picks up and drops off nearby. At Whitman parents do sometimes pick up after sports practice, but many kids also take the RideOn bus home. BCC has even better public transportation options. Our MS has an activity bus for after school activities. If the OP needs child care usually that is on site or the kids can take the school bus to the after school provider.

Sorry, I suggested Tenleytown because OP said MD/DC in the subject. I follow both the DC and MD school forums and mistakenly thought this was on the DC forum.

What about seven locks ES or bells mil es area. It takes less than 10 min to get on 270/495. I am sure you can find rental in your price range.

You have to minimize your time on 495 and never get on 270. The traffic in MD getting to 495 if you are not on 270 is not that bad. Once you are on 495, it is stand still. If you do seven locks make sure that you get on the beltway at River and Seven Locks, don't go further north where you need to take 270 to get to 495.

I would suggest spending less on the rental and getting an afternoon/evening nanny. We had to switch to a sitter because we could not get to aftercare by 6:30 with any reliability. Sometimes the traffic coming back from VA is red as late as 7pm.

Did you read her post? She said she is being forced to move.

To a completely different state? I didn't know that a state could force you to move, like being expelled or deported. I want to look into this because there are some people I want to send to Florida.

The state is not forcing me out or there is no reason for the state to force me out. Because of some personal situations, I will need to move to MD/DC. situation

Please send them, there is nothing wrong with VA. I need to move for my own personal reasons . My post here is to get suggestions on the schools so please don't change the topic.
