This is the OP. I agree with you PP. I kept thinking to myself even before the non existent date occurred, why do I have to travel so far to meet him, especially because HE asked me. I won't do that again. |
It be more equitable if the two people on a date meet somewhere mid-distance to where they live or work. |
| Yep happened once to me. Bartender comped my dinner and then two guys sitting at the bar found out and were like "that dude is crazy!!!"'and bought me a drink. Was a fun night but man...glad I'm no longer online dating! |
This would be awful. My heart goes out |

I have been "stood up" on the first date twice, both from on line sources. I am male. Usually, I did first dates in casual settings...lunch during the work week, or something. One time, the lady could not get away, and could not get me a message -- this is before cell phones were ubiquitous. The other time, she apparently walked into a coffee shop, saw me, and walked out -- I guess she did not like what she saw.
It happens. It is not as bad as when you are getting serious with someone, and they freak out, and start standing you up. That has happened to me too. The worst was in college...my "serious gf" attended a school about 450 miles from me. I had a long weekend, and took the bus to see her. After 16 hrs on the bus, I arrived...she knew I was coming, and found out that she was out with someone else. It was a long 16 hours back to Blacksburg. |
| 7:34 That is a lot of stand ups. |
7:34 here. from 18-35, I was stood up 5 times. 3 on first dates, and twice when a woman wanted to break up with me, for various reasons... |
|
OP, Sorry that happened to you. I got stood up last night too. It was embarrassing. I felt like everyone knew I was stood up. I tried my best to hold my composure, even stayed a little bit and ordered a drink. I was so flushed I dropped my phone into the toilet...Ironically, the guy that was supposed to meet up with me last night texted me this morning saying he was sorry but he dropped his phone in the shower and his phone works now because he put it in a bag of rice overnight! I don't know if he's telling the truth, but he knew the place and the time, and he didn't show. His loss for sure. You definitely dodged a bullet.

He is full of shit! I think online dating sites should let you post reviews under people's profiles, like Yelp or Redfin. I want to know if someone guy i'm interested in would stand up someone else! |
This is the OP. PP, I am so sorry that this happened to you! If I were you, I would block him from your profile and avoid all contact with him - that is exactly what I did with the guy who stood me up! Good luck to you in your search! |
OP here. Totally agree that we should be able to post reviews under the profiles! |
yep - this happened to me 4 years ago on an OKCupid date. blonde from utah - it wouldn't have worked out. Atleast she showed up but still - fuck flakey people. |
| Unless he called to say he was running late, I wouldn't have waited more than 10 min. |
| You tell 'em, OP! |
| HAHAHAHA |
