If you could choose a weekly day off...

Wednesdays, I would have off. I like splitting the week up.

When I worked 4 days a week, I took Wednesdays off. It was great - never had to work more than 2 days in a row and got a little midweek break.

Depends on your office of course, but Fridays work best for me because so many people are out on AWS, so I'm not really missed or looked over for opportunities. Mondays some people take off for AWS, but not as many. I still use leave for my doctor appointments, and ped appointments don't work out on Fridays because our provider doesn't work those days. I still get a lot done and do most grocery shopping on those days. It's also helpful if we're going out of town for the weekend because I can get stuff packed and ready for when DH gets home. I love my Fridays! I usually have DS because he's in day care, not school. I'm also usually completely drained by Friday, whereas Monday I'm probably at my least worn out, so it would be weird to not work those days. I have switched them occasionally for DH travel, etc. The only Federal Holiday I've missed is Veteran's Day or July 4, or the other days that aren't always Monday.

Tuesday or Wednesday.

Tuesdays for the occasional four day weekend. Wednesday because I think a break in the middle of the week would be more gratifying than after just one day in the office.

Tuesday or Wednesday.

There are many Mondays off through the year.
We get Thursday and Friday sometimes for Thanksgiving.

Aiming for Tuesday or Wednesday gives you more days at home throughout the year.

Traffic is the worst on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Monday there's the holiday thing, and Friday traffic is usually less.

downside of Tuesday is that you've just gone back to work and now you're off again. It can be confusing. (I am teleworking today and having that problem.)

Wednesday, for sure. If you drive, Mon & Fri are lighter traffic days, so no biggie to go in. And, like you, Fridays are pretty low-key at my office so no real benefit to take off since I like the casual "TGIF" vibe of the office.

I used to have Wednesdays off. It was heavenly, I would get all of my housework and errands done and have the weekend free for fun. Also, I never worked more than two days in a row.

I used to take Monday's off and it was nice. This was pre-kids, pre-marriage and I liked to do sight-seeing on Mondays because the crowds were smaller.

In my office, I don't think we could get away with picking anything but a Monday or Friday as our day off. Because people tend to have Mon. or Fri. as their day off and/or tele-work on Mon or Fri, meetings tend to get scheduled for Tues, Wed. and Thursday.

ITA--you never need to be in the office more than two days in a row!

I usually work from home on Mondays, and often end up taking it easy or catching up on housework etc. But if I had to take a day completely off, I'd pick Wednesdays.

Another vote for Tuesday or Wednesday, for all the reasons listed above.

I do Fridays and love it. I always feel rested and like I've had a "break" when I return on Mondays. Also keep my DC with me and I love having a day each week that's just "ours".

I loved having every Wednesday off. It broke up the work week quite nicely. Too bad this schedule is not available anymore!

Fridays, particularly if your career oriented. In my office at least the other days are too important. Also it seems like there are a lot of fun local activities with kids scheduled on Fridays so it's a nice day to be home with children.
