The school population as a whole is average and the revelation that the school has graduated decades of illiterate athletes shows the subjective standards. The school has zero Nobel , fields medal or academy award alumni. I think they have 8 Pulitzer alumni but minimal Emmy alumni .

The most accomplished alumni in recent times are basketball and football players.

In case you've missed it, the Nobel Prize is a bit a joke these days and Academy Awards and Emmys? Really?

I want to see evidence that north Carolina is one of the worst in terms of k-12 public school systems.

From looking at the NMSF PSAT qualifying score, NC is just about average. This doesn't lend much support to it being one of the worst K-12 in the nation.

Um, back to the original question? What band of schools is it comparable to in terms of selectivity?

When I was at UVA, there was a kid there (OOS) who wanted to go to UNC but didn't get in. I'd say for an OOS student it's comparable to UVA +/-. For instate it's probably much closer to a VT or JMU.

Any school that gives diplomas to illiterates is not top 25.

Us news is the only world rank that has it that high. The school is rated low in the hard subjects.

If you think the majority of D1 football schools are significantly different you're delusional.

The significant majority of football schools suck academically.

^^ many of the illiterates with Unc diplomas were basketball players too. Unc is unique in giving grades for classes that never met or had any tests.

I love that paper!!

This would get an a, not an a minus.

On the evening of December, Unc is a gooder school than sit in the bus front of Roa Parks. On the way to the basketball I got the clap .

On a midnight of September , Ria Sparks received a moving citation back of bus. Drive thru Unc diplona rendered forthwif and so forth.

Right, Michigan, UVA, Northwestern, Stanford, UCLA. All crap.

I guarantee none of those schools have no show classes and give grades for absolutely nothing.

Unc is in with Alabama and Florida State but even they probably don't graduate complete illiterates .

Even for in state students UNC has highly competitive admission standards.

Did he go to Unc? I know the school was very late to integrate and now they pretend to educate African Americans while they use them for sports.

Granted this was 15 years ago, but I had a 1400 SAT and over a 4.0 GPA, got into Northwestern and Georgetown, but was waitlisted and ultimately rejected by UNC.
