| News for this crowd - NO ONE except maybe Maria Sharapova looks good at a Starbucks in a tennis skirt. This is just fact and means those of you who think you do --- you don't. Really. |
| You look like you are trying way too hard. |
| We live in a "well to do" neighborhood in DC and no, I really don't see this. Assuming this would mostly be in MD/VA suburbs? |
| Arlington here. Oh yeah. |
| Don't some people work out in skirts now too? So how can you tell who's been playing tennis at The Club and who's been running on a free public trail. Or is everyone who wears a workout skirt to be shunned? |
| It's the attitude, not the skirt really. That aren't I just a little bit better than you aura. |
| Don 't worry, that's a sure sign of nouveau riche. They are probably acting that way out of insecurities. Don't partake in the gossip, just bad form. |
Not in my VA suburb of Franconia. We don't have country clubs, just community pools where the only membership bar is the annual membership fee of $500 (or so).
But, as PP noted, there are cliques everywhere. I ignore them since I'm not in high school. |
Yes! There is a whole thread about what shoes to wear with your athletic skort. So the question really is, are their shoes cute? |
| Have never encountered this in my neighborhood, sorry. |

Where I live (Vienna) it seems to be the running moms....and instead of Starbucks, it is Caffe Amouri. So they don't drop the "club" much, but they do drop the comments about running...and there kids are perfect....On the weekends, they go to Soccer games/LL, then go to the early morning runs on Sunday.
|
| The running moms - so annoying. Half of them I don't even believe are actually running, they just buy the clothes and pretend. I live in Alexandria btw and this is the breed I see a lot. We get the tennis one's too but I actually believe most of them saunter onto the court and swing the raquet a few times before hitting the starbucks. Not enough to break a sweat of course but enough to justify being see on the court. |
Same goes for all workout wear. |
+1 SO not my crowd. |
| We live in Chevy Chase and know tons of people that belong to CCC or Columbia. I don't really see the type you are describing though. They're all nice people and don't seem to advertise their membership in a club at all. The group of moms I'm closest with has about 50% with a club membership and 50% without. Those of us who don't belong certainly aren't excluded. |
