Not PC, but as anyone who's travelled to China knows, very true... |
I worked with a guy who would call cats "roof rabbits" so that Americans wouldn't get upset when he talked about eating them as a kid. |
Sad, sad, I had no idea that people in Asia eat dogs. I knew about horses but not dogs. It's awful. To answer your question: I have no idea if it's racist???? |
This one is very real! They cook dogs and cats all the time. For them it's like eating cow meat. They are not culturally adverse to eating what westerners consider pets. So, no it's not racist. If I was in India and a cow went missing and a neighbor commented that it must have been their Western neighbor, I would laugh, it's funny. |
lol creative |
Yeah, I thought so too.
|
Why racist if it is completely true? |
|
It isn't racist to say Asians eat dogs.
It is racist to make a joke that the Asian business owners in your community are taking strays off the street and cooking them. |
+1 |
You know for a fact that the restaurant in your community is serving stray dog? |
|
Um - Asia is the biggest continent on earth with many different cultures and countries. As an Indian, the comment is not only not true, but repugnant. If it matters to the OP, which seems doubtful.
|
| Some people who live in some Asian countries eat dogs. This is not racist. Putting it OP's way could be interpreted as racist. |
I made the joke because apparently over 100 cats are missing in our area in the last 2 months. Either there is a cat serial killer or someone is cooking them. Neither option really appeals to my sensibilities. Either way I was making light of a grim statistic. Technically the cats aren't strays, but missing house cats. |

Some things that are true still aren't PC to say.
And while it may be true in parts of Asia, I find it highly unlikely that restaurants here in the States would be getting away with doing the same. |
That's even worse then. You are implicating Asians in stealing people's pets. Shame on you, OP. |
