Vaccination Poll

Stuck to the schedule but went to a Ped (Pediatric Care Center) that sees them every month instead of every other month for the first year...so in essence we spaced them out.

Stuck to the schedule and never considered anything else. I might be broke had I chose to space them out since the ped would charge for each visit (outside of the well child visits when the shots were given). I think you will find more spacing out and choosing not to vaccinate among upper middle class and wealthy families since many parents couldn't afford to keep visiting their ped just to get a shot when they would be charged $100+ per visit.

Read Dr. Sear's book on spacing them out, did some additional research, and decided to stick to the schedule.

Did the research; sticking to the schedule; hoping for the best.

stuck to the schedule... though i will space out DS's four- year shots because there are 4-5 in one visit and I can't bear to put him through that.

stuck to scheduled with two children. Both up to date. Not worried and no adverse reactions.

I followed Dr. Sears schedule of spacing out the shots. My ped's office only charges us our usual $15 copay for our "shot-only" visits. I'm not sure where this poster takes her kids, but most peds offices will only charge your copay for the shots. (Maybe she doesn't have insurance?) In my opinion it's been worth it. Our DD gets so sick after only getting 2 shots I can't imagine how bad it would be if she got 4-5 at one time!

My son is 9 mo. & we spaced them out by getting 2 a month (so 2 shots at 2 mo, 3 mo, 4mo, 5 mo, 6 mo, 7mo & at 9mo he is up to date). I'm not sure what I'm going to do about the next shots, except that I'm going to stick to no more than 2 at a time. My ped was totally fine with it.

With DD2 we follow the Dr. Sears alternative schedule for those who want to fully vaccinate. We are completely up-to-date except for Hep B. We go in for extra visits to keep it to a 2 shot maximum and like PPs are only charged the co-pay for those visits. I decided to space them out a bit after DD1 had a reaction every single visit when I followed the AAP schedule. Nothing serious, but I thought it would be better not to give DD2 so many shots at once.

Stuck to the schedule and had no problems. Not even a fever. Child will be 2 this spring.

DD got all five shots at her four year old appointment because I couldn't bear to bring her back knowing that she was going to get more shots. She's relieved to know that she won't be getting anymore shots until she's big, and at every sick visit she makes sure to tell me that she is not getting any shots.

Sticking to the schedule after tons of reading and talking to multiple dr's (outside of my practice and from Harvard Medical)

I stuck to the schedule, and no long-term adverse effects, but man they really caused my son to be cranky for a day. So spacing them out seems worse to me (more frequent shots)

I do worry about it though. Each vaccine, I spend the next couple of days closely watching my son for any signs of change.
