Heard my DS and his friends calling each other Nittanys.

I always wondered what Nittany meant. I got to admit, when I see or hear Penn State, the sad situation is the first thing that comes to mind but then again I'm not from Pennsylvania and don't talk about the school much.

That's how boys are...gross! but at least they don't say each other gay much anymore they are more sensitive to the issue. Nittany is gross but it's in bounds to use as a derogatory term considering what it refers to.

Gotta say, OP. I wouldn't have laughed at this one. I would have wondered where I went wrong when my son is laughing and joking about a friend being a pedophile….

The Penn State scandal was horrible and I feel for the families involved. It was a terrible case of greed, dishonesty and hubris.

Although some will try to toss away your son and his friends' attempt at humor as a case of "boys being boys", these are alway "teachable moments" (not to be cliche, but that's our job as parents) Your son needs some lessons in appropriate humor and you might want to start working on that now...

You're sick, OP. Really, this post is SO hypocritical. YOU are part of the problem, laughing about pedophilia instead of educating your son. Hilarious that you think you're better than Sandusky, you sicko.

OK, we are making progress. You now have at least stated who you want action taken against. Now, who is "They"? Use specific names of people or groups who you expect to take action.

Then, maybe you can explain how these actions will achieve your goals of "reestablishing a normal mentality and show a serious attitude". Oh, some way of measuring how well those goals are being achieved might be useful as well.

Oh wait, there is someone monitoring the school's progress on this. And he prepares quarterly reports about it. And here is the latest one saying how well things are going.

So I guess my real question is, do you actually know anything about what happened and what the school is doing to make sure it doesn't happen again? Or are you like most who have never read the Freeh report or any of the court documents or any of the Mitchel reports and therefore are talking out of your ass?

^^ they left out the part where they suspend the football program to take the time to establish that integrity and the school are more important than the football program.

Penn State has once again gone to great lengths to protect football above all else imcluding the victims. Weird and backwards priorities.

That's who they are. That's how the whole event occurred . They don't get it . They fear the loss of a football game more than anything else. That's why the Nittany thing rings true,

Um, they're the Nittany Lions because the school is in the valley of Mt. Nittany.

They might want to change that name.

I used to like Penn State. Now whenever I see the logo or team on TV it makes me sick. The black , blue and white colors remind me of a bruise.. I can't help it. I like college football and certainly am aware that there are problems in the game but the Penn State situation is the worst event I have ever heard of involving sports in history.
