Neighborhoods in Whitman district walking distance to metro?

Bradley hills is a long long walk for two directions of a daily commute via Metro...but there are busses that you can catch in neighborhood or on Old Georgetown Rd.

When she bought there she assumed that given that there wasn't even a street between her apartment and Westland that that's where her kid would be assigned, but it turned out that they are assigned to Wood Acres/Pyle/Whitman. Anyway, I don't know if there are houses in that area in the same situation, but you can walk to both Friendship Heights and Bethesda from Westland. Bethesda's more of a hike, but it's along the Capital Crescent Trail so it's a nice hike.

Having said all that, I'd choose BCC over Whitman in a heartbeat, and did, but that isn't what you asked.

That's basically Wood Acres/Springfield which is about a 2 mile walk to friendship heights. From the Giant it is 1.7 miles.

We've been super happy with Whitman but don't need to metro to work so didn't have to consider metro walkability. DC worked downtown last summer and did the bus to the metro which worked well but did add a bit to the commute.

Why would you choose BCC

Are there any neighborhoods we should look at that are within walking distance to the red line? We can spend up to about 1.5 million, and we need at least 3 bedrooms and an office or 4 bedrooms. Thanks in advance!

Why can't you look this up on a map and then do a search on a real estate site? maybe drive around the "hoods

It's not rocket science.

Nice pp. Welcome to the area, OP. I happen to be in the Whitman district (and can walk to the Metro to boot). Check out the areas near Wilson lane. Good luck!

Diversity, racial, and SES, the IB diploma option, and more walkable communities.

NIH has a peripheral bus runs around NIH to bring people in surrounding neighborhood to Medical Center Metro Station.

We live off of Huntington Parkway in the Greenwich Forrest area. It is a 20 min walk to metro and Bradley hills/Pyle/Whitman. However the 30 bus runs every half hour and makes the commute 10 mins max. Great neighborhood and neighbors. But, houses sell in less than 7 days on the market.

Sorry meant it is BH/Pyle/Whit district, not a 20 min walk to them.

99% humidity dressed in work clothing in the summer and walking to metro...sweaty...smelly...not lazy, just gross.

Agree with poster. We live in this area too. I ride my bike to the metro and am there in 10 min but on rainy days I'll take the 30 bus and its less than a 10 min ride. The neighborhood is really family friendly. Kids running around everywhere.

Personally, I'd prefer BCC too, but I think it's a GS6 for its PARCC scores these days. Sadly, many people get hung up on that.
