These would make my size 11 feet look size 21. Cute on people with cute feet, though. Not all fashions are for all people. |

http://www.sierratradingpost.com/ethyl-classic-capris-for-women~p~4220a/ this cut, NO, but something like this: http://www.catofashions.com/cato/belted-roll-cuff-cropped-jeans-1896 is not so horrible.

| Definitely for the spring - everyone will be wearing them for the in-between weather of April and May. Like 70 degrees, too cool for a skirt or shorts. |
No no no. Not everyone. |
| I understand the ankle pants for work or a brunch or winery with friends but what do you wear when you are going to the playground with your kid? I don't want to subject anyone to the sight of my thighs. Do I just have to choose now between ankle pants and shorts down to my knees? |
What about just jeans or regular cotton pants? Capris are difficult to pull off, because they visually shorten the leg line and make all but the tallest, longest-legged women look squat and stumpy. Plus, if you think about it, they're a little silly--the four or five inches of leg exposed by capris isn't going to help you be a lot cooler in the summer vs. regular pants. |
| Older fat woman here -- you really do not need to se me in shorts. And long pants are too hot. |
+1. I'm a size 12 and in my 40s. No one needs to see my thighs, but that doesn't mean I should be stuck in jeans all summer playing with my kids. Same thing with wearing a cute tee instead of tank tops, my upper arms aren't model material, either. Sadly, not all of us are 5'8" and a size 6. |
I think there's a difference between asking if capris are in style and asking if they are the best of the possible options. It sounds like you feel as if you need to dress primarily to shield others from the sight of your body - and maybe I've just been watching too many reruns of What Not To Wear, but I would disagree with that characterization. Being in your late 40s and a size 12 does not make you somehow unable to participate in wearing nice clothes that look great on you! You probably do have to be more conscious about what you put on, as opposed to a waif of a 20 year old, but so what - you still deserve to look great. And I think the point that's being made here is that capris - the traditional ones that are loose and cut off somewhere in the mid-calf - aren't doing anyone any favors. There are probably better options out there for you - if you care about looking your best. If you don't, then why even bother asking people if they're still in? |

I've always been kind of a capris fan but understand they're not "in" anymore. But I do not wear pants in the summer! Even the cute ankle pants. Well maybe to work, but not on a weekend.
So I go with shorts, or my new go-to are really casual skirts. I like the skorts Athleta sells (they sell a good a-line one that is flattering for those that don't think they have nice thighs). I've also got some made with stretchy jersey material and go to the knee or so. Much cooler (temp wise) than pants in the hot DC summer. |

For those who have been brainwashed into thinking they cannot wear shorts, here's some medicine for your soul:
http://www.wardrobeoxygen.com/2013/05/can-every-body-wear-shorts.html Everyone deserves to be as comfortable as possible in hot DC summers. |
that is one of the best fashion blog posts i've ever seen. i love this lady. |
I actually don't find shorts comfortable in hot weather, especially shorter shorts. I actually find that the area behind my knees sweats and gets sticky. Wearing cotton capris that come just below the knee is actually the most comfortable thing to wear. Honestly, I think Indians have it figured out best -- cotton salwar kameez is actually the most comfortable and flattering thing to wear in hot, humid weather. I take issue with the idea that exposing more skin makes you more comfortable in hot weather. I think it's actually the opposite. lightweight, breathable fabric is the key; not necessarily less clothing. |
I don't find shorts, let alone jeans, that cool either in the summer. That is why I wear fuller light cotton dresses and skirts. |

Capris are out. If I see any of you frumping around in them this spring I will perform a citizen's arrest.
