+1.  I'm a size 12 and in my 40s.  No one needs to see my thighs, but that doesn't mean I should be stuck in jeans all summer playing with my kids.  Same thing with wearing a cute tee instead of tank tops, my upper arms aren't model material, either.

I think there's a difference between asking if capris are in style and asking if they are the best of the possible options. It sounds like you feel as if you need to dress primarily to shield others from the sight of your body - and maybe I've just been watching too many reruns of What Not To Wear, but I would disagree with that characterization. Being in your late 40s and a size 12 does not make you somehow unable to participate in wearing nice clothes that look great on you! You probably do have to be more conscious about what you put on, as opposed to a waif of a 20 year old, but so what - you still deserve to look great.

And I think the point that's being made here is that capris - the traditional ones that are loose and cut off somewhere in the mid-calf - aren't doing anyone any favors. There are probably better options out there for you - if you care about looking your best. If you don't, then why even bother asking people if they're still in? [/quote]
