I'm not the pp but all of the smithsonian museums on the mall. A very short bus ride down 11th or 14th. Or a 20 to 25 minute walk from my house. Building museum is also close. I'm in Logan.

Op there are lots of parks. I haven't noticed any problems at Kennedy park. It was just redone and is great. Depending on where you choose in Logan you can be close walking distance to whole foods, the new giant and the new trader joes.

Ross has about 75 in boundary kids. That's not very many..

DC is in a class of about 25. At least 20 live within 5 blocks of the school though some of these might not technically be in boundary as the boundaries are very tight. Lots of strollers on the streets. Dupont is quickly becoming a kid friendly zone - though older kids - upper elementary + are still rare.

If you're in Logan, that may be true, but the person who lives close to Rose & Mitchell Park is clearly in West End/West Dupont/G'town. You can't really be at the Smithsonian in "minutes". It's a tedious metro ride.

We lived between Logan and Dupont until my second child was born. We loved it and have great memories.

I lived in this area, but we moved after we had our DS (to Brightwood). I loved loved that neighborhood. I bet it would be great with kids, but we got priced out.

Yes, very small school. More OOB than you'd expect because the boundary is so tiny and odd, e.g., Ross is at 17th and R, and one edge of the boundary is the other side of 16th Street. Many families are in the neighborhood, just technically OOB. And many (though not all of course) of the current well educated families are intending to continue with public school, either DCPS or charter.

LOVE the dupont/logan area. We've been here since we first moved to DC w/o kids and now have 3. It's a great area with lots to do. Sure you have more sidewalks and fewer / smaller green areas than upper NW, but you are also walkable to sooo much. We love it. Our kids are in local DCPS - no complaints!

55% OOB this year. Will be majority IB next year. As PP points out boundaries are very small and majority is already from the neighborhood. Fact is there is a real density of young families with toddlers and early elementary school kids in DuPont these days.

Not so for West End and G'town. The 32 and 36 busses that run down Wisconsin through G'town and then through the West End go to the Mall. The Georgetown-Union Station Circulator route runs 2-3 blocks north of the Building Museum. I concede that the Mall is less accessible from West Dupont, that is true.

In this area there is a cooperative play group for 2 -3 year olds in Mitchell Park and another one in Rose Park.
