Why do I have to be branded an idiot by someone like you? Because our yard is covered in a a beautiful, white blanket of snow? B/c DH built a snow run for the kids to sled down and it has hardened to perfection and the kids are outside squealing and sledding with delight? We didn't lose power, no car accidents, no toilet paper emergencies. Just a lot of family time, cooking and baking, drawing and reading, movies and video games, laundry and chores, internet shopping, and hot chocolate. OK, I'm an idiot, but a happy one with a clean house, fresh laundry, an awesome family, and the beneficiary of some much-needed down time. And you're what?

What's the big picture? That I work from home for a day here and there? My clients don't care if I'm at the firm office or at home office. That my kids aren't in school for a few days? We do work on all school days whether there is school or not. But I'm not saying this to justify my feelings. I'm saying we can all do this. Missing 6 or 7 days of school once every few years is not the end of the world. THAT, my friend, is the bigger picture from this happy, rational, adult who is a kid at heart.

I agree. Just because the rest of you don't want to spend time with your rotten children doesn't mean that you should criticize those who do enjoy snow days.

I'm not 17:45 but I'm the pp that said I'd love another snowfall. I love snow and being from DC it's not a frequent event. But this leads me to be labeled an idiot, immature, and a douchebag. A douchebag bc we have different feelings about snow. And bc I try to look on positive side of days off from school. The funny thing is we've seen a lot of friends over the last five days at home and not one person has complained about the snow and closed schools but the folks on this board. Everyone else I know is like me making the most of it. So awesome bc there was no loss of power which I agree would have been a bummer.
