Harvard student not so smart

Using ops logic, I would make a terrible jeopardy contestant and therefore I should have gone to Harvard

+1. I didn't go to Harvard or Yale. But, really? You think Harvard students were supposed to be memorizing Jeopardy trivia for the first 20 years of their lives instead of, I dunno, studying for APs, SATs and actual Harvard courses? How insecure are you?

I agree. I am blonde, white, female, not a legacy anywhere (grandfather didn't even get past 8th grade) and went to Harvard Law School. But put me in front of T.V. cameras and have to make quick decisions while on camera? No way. I'd freeze. I also have absolutely no sense of cultural occurrences, major sports events or movies that took place during college, law school, clerking, and associate years because I was always working. Rule of Perpetuities? Sure. Passed six bar exams. Jeopardy or any other T.V. show that requires quick thicking in front of an audience? NO way. Deer in headlights. You can't always judge a book by its cover.

I didn't go to Harvard or any Ivy, but I supervise people who did.

I really hate the antagonism people express toward groups of people just because they . . . have membership in that group. If you're going to be antagonistic toward someone, at least have a specific reason based on verifiable proof that person did something that was hurtful and wrong. To hate someone just because they went to a certain school or belong to a certain group is ridiculous.

Women in general do badly at Jeopardy, because they can't ring in fast enough. (The show itself admits this.) Fortunately, the real world doesn't have a buzzer.

+1. There are some really insecure and nasty people here. And that--not the fact of having gone to this college or that college--makes them losers.

Maybe she thought Harvard had taken care of everything. I am sure if her mom came in and talked to the producers, she could still win.

I know a lot of business owners who avoid hiring undergrads from the Ivies. The lack of fire in the belly.

You are stupid and not even funny.

I can see there might be a mismatch between academic aspirations and making widgets. Can we agree this is a no-fault situation?

There is a whole lot of jealousy in this thread!

Maybe. But the McKinseys, Goldmans and Carlyles of the world take the opposite approach.

IVY ENVY strikes again!

You weren't good or smart enough to get into an ivy. Okay, accept that. It just is what it is. But to be jealous of those who had what it takes?

No wonder the Universe kept you out of that elite group. You're obviously not mentally or emotionally equipped for it, even now.
