Pook's Hill is gangster. It gives South Arlington a run for the money. And Woodbridge too.

20814 also includes Edgemoor -- a great neighborhood where you can walk to all the stores and restaurants in Bethesda, as well as the Metro, library and movie theatres. There's also the Edgemoor club with pool and tennis. Commute to GU is pretty easy -- Little Falls to Mass, then cut through Glover Park to avoid Wisconsin. A teardown is about $1M. Note that MS and HS boundaries may chance with the construction of the new MS, but Bethesda ES will remain the in-boundary school.

Edgemoor and East Bethesda look pretty real to me. Are you saying they're Potemkin villages? Fascinating.

Nope. Saying they are in the top 1 percent of that zip code in terms of cost. Doofus.

Where's your evidence for this statement? And, BTW, you're very rude.

This doesn't make any sense - Pooks Hill is tiny compared to Edgemoor and East Bethesda - check the map!
Also, a lot of people in the Pooks Hill area are scientists at NIH, or doctors from the Naval Medical center, both of which are walking distance from Pooks Hill. Not every profession that requires post graduate education automatically makes you a millionaire, but you will find 20814 is one of the most educated zip codes in the US.

I don't think I'd look in 20814 for a commute to GU. It's not that bad a drive down McArthur or Canal Rd, (or take canal rd to 495 and the GW pkwy). But getting across Bethesda from 20814 seems to add unnecessary extra time. I'd look at places the other side of River Rd - Glen Echo, Mohican Hills, even out to Carderock Springs. And I agree, there's no reason not to do a search in both Arlington and Bethesda and see what you can find in both.

N Arl is closer to Georgetown and more prestigous than 20814 which sits near the 270 interchange; the homes are more attractive up near the Chain Bridge than 20814 and more expensive too.

wuh?

I live in 20814 and couldn't be further from 270 if I tried. Perhaps you're thinking 20817?

I love our neighborhood although its not so close to GU. Houses are lovely, old charm etc.

Whitman is the HS.

Maybe, but according to the census 22207 has a higher percentage of college grads and masters holders than 20814.

Whitman is a great high school...BCC is ok. Yorktown is probably a bit better than BCC but below Whitman

Your source is the census explorer? Have you really looked at it? There simply is no way you can look at it and think that Edgemoor and East Bethesda only represent 1% of the zip code, even leaving aside that it doesn't show housing costs.

Parts of 22201 have great access to GU.
