In your opinion, what's the best restaurant in DC?

Rasika
Little Serow

And some posters are geographically challenged. Good grief.

Other than Rasika, I don't see great options for a vegetarian. Sorry to hijack - any suggestions for someone who doesn't eat meat?

I really like Blue Duck Tavern.

Rasika, Cityzen, Bourbon Steak for steak, Eve. I also miss Citronelle.

Le Diplomate is good, but not memorable. I also think Central is overrated. It's good, but not spectacular.

Definitely CityZen. Similar to great restaurants of California wine country and fairly reasonable price for what you get. One commenter above lamented lack of vegetarian options, but CityZen has a vegetarian option for their tasting menu which my wife got once and it was VERY good.

Another one if you like Japanese food is the sushi counter at Sushi Taro. A multi-course tour of Japanese cuisine.

For those putting Central and Le Diplomate, though I've not been to Diplomate, in the mix, those types of restaurants are OK for a good solid meal when you just want to go out, but not something SPECIAL.

To really taste what Michel Richard can do, you need to have eaten at Citronelle, now that was event dining at its best. If it were still around that would be my number one, and is the third best meal I have eaten after Cyrus (also now closed) in Sonoma and Manresa in Los Gatos.

I need to get to Fiola.

Komi can do vegetarian. Zaytinya is several notches below the others being discussed, but a good option if you want the vegetarians to have more than a handful of choices and are locked out of Rasika.
I've had good vegetarian meals at Restaurant Nora, but it's been two-ish years since the last time.

We must be friends.

Not the best...but del campo is really growing on me. Had a great meal there this past week.

While we're discussing, what's it going to take to get some really good Italian around here?

Although, looking forward to Alba Osteria to open.

Citronelle was among the most disappointing meals I've had in my life.

Did you get the tasting menu or did you order the prix fixe three courses? If the latter, it probably would have been disappointing, and overpriced. The tasting menu was phenomenal.
