Husband won't talk to me and our 4 yr old!

Thanks 10:02 That is helpful. My heart is so heavy for DC. I feel so, so sad. This isn't the first time something so mean has happened. DH is really like a child. I'm not sad when I think of a divorce. I'm ready to go through with this. I'm just so sad for DC. His life is going to change in so many ways.

Take half the money from the bank and go. Do you have credit cards?

OP, get your son to a therapist. Your husband's behavior will surely be even worse during the divorce process, and your son will need professional help. He is being emotionally abused by his father already.

I do have credit cards. I will also look for a therapist and have DC go ASAP.

Have spoken with a lawyer? That is the first thing I would do on Monday.

NP. The only reason I think this is real is that I dated someone like this. He once stopped talking to me on the way home from a trip (not even a fight!) and when we ran into a friend of his, he wouldn't talk to him either. Bizarre.

OP, if you're in Virginia, call the Women's Center in Vienna. They can point you in the right direction with respect to lawyers, counselors, etc., who work with women in your situation.

Also, I agree with PP to keep telling your DC that it isn't his fault and that you love him. This must be so confusing for him. Good luck.

You took a sick kid to work with you? Ugh. What a nice holiday gift for your coworkers.

DC had a fever the night before and when he got up the next morning I told him he could watch a show while I got ready for work since DH was still asleep. DH woke up right as I said that and told DC if he is sick then he needs to go back to bed. He cannot be up. I explained DC just woke up and I told him he could watch a show. He said if he is going to keep DC then he will lay in his bed all day. So I took DC to work with me and dropped something off and came right back. DC adores DH, they spend a lot of time together and now DH won't talk to him at all. It's been 4 days and he DC will say, "dad please talk to me, I love you please talk". DH said we are traitors and he doesn't want to see both our disgusting faces. It's so hurtful. I did apologize for not letting him deal with DC how he wanted etc, he won't even listen.

Last night DC cried in his sleep and was thrashing around and finally got up at 4:30am and hasn't been back to sleep. Not sure if its just a coincidence or if related to DH. What would you do.

Also a couple days before this incident when we had the first argument which was so small, we were getting ready for guests who were coming to dinner. They were from out of the country and just got off a long flight. DH was mad at me so when the guests arrived he refused to come out of his room. He came out to get a plate of food from the table we were all seated at, didn't say hello and walked back to his room to eat.

This sounds comical to be honest. I cannot imagine a husband and father behaving so childishly. If this is indeed a genuine circumstance and not some contrived attempt for attention then my sympathy is with the DH. The poor man must either be overwhelmed with psychological trauma or one of the most ignorant individuals the world has ever known.

Or fictional.

Unfortunately, people like this exist. One of my friends attempted suicide and on the way to the hospital to visit the mother, the dad told his pre-teen stepdaughter that it was her fault because she was a bad child. People suck sometimes.

That is truly bizarre. I have to admit, on one occasion when I felt that DH and DS were ganging up on me and making fun of me in an inappropriate way, I refused to speak to either of them for an hour or two. But for days? For the situation you described? That's insane.

Trust me, it's probably real.

What we should be asking ourselves is - why are so many husbands such a-holes like this? My husband (soon to be ex) is pretty much like this also. Most of my friends' husbands are like this too.

I'm going through this too. I wanted to try to make things work so DS would grow up with mom and dad, but finally realized that I can't do it anymore. I don't know why my husband is like he is, he acts like a 5 year old, and expects me to be his maid and mother. I'm done. I just want to raise my son, and have absolutely no desire to try to have a relationship with a man in the future. Done. Every single man I've been with has been like this.

What's with all of the damn ass posts leading up to Christmas? Too many kids off for Winter Break?

My husband does some similar big baby stuff not this bad but sometimes close. Luckily, it's more to me not my ds. But, I know it sucks. I hope you find a place. Yes, go to the women's center in Vienna even if you don't live in va. They can help you a lot.
